Meet Carrington Hinton

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Carrington Hinton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Carrington below.

Carrington , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

As a Black woman who is also a Licensed Esthetician and solo business owner, I’ve learned that being the only one in the room is not a limitation—it’s a strength. Representation in the skincare industry matters, and I take pride in creating a space where my clients feel seen, heard, and understood.

Success for me has come from unwavering confidence in my expertise, a commitment to continuous education, and the ability to connect with my clients on a deeper level. I’ve learned to navigate spaces where I may be the minority by letting my results speak for themselves—delivering exceptional skincare and prioritizing client relationships.

I also embrace my unique perspective as an opportunity to educate and advocate. There’s a lack of awareness around how different skin tones and concerns should be treated, and I’ve made it my mission to provide customized solutions that truly work. My presence in this industry is not just about my business; it’s about opening doors for others, showing that we belong in every room, and proving that excellence has no limits.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Skincare That Transforms: Inside The Facialholic Bar

I’m Carrington, a solo esthetician and the founder of Facialholic Bar, where skincare meets customization and results-driven treatments. My approach is all about blending science with a luxurious, client-focused experience—every facial is tailored to individual skin needs, ensuring that each person who walks through my doors gets the best treatment for their unique concerns.

What makes my business special is the depth of care I provide. It’s not just about facials—it’s about helping people feel confident in their skin. From in-depth skin treatments to Botox, filler, IV hydration, and weight loss shots, I offer a holistic approach to beauty and wellness. I also integrate advanced techniques like microcurrent, dermaplaning, and customized treatment plans to ensure long-term results.

Right now, I’m especially excited about Facialholic Skincare BootCamp, a 30-day guided journey to healthier skin that I’ll be hosting again this spring. This is a great opportunity for people to reset their skincare routine and learn how to truly care for their skin from the inside out. I’m also incorporating more post-treatment follow-ups to ensure my clients get the best long-term results.

Facialholic Bar is more than just a skincare destination—it’s a community. My goal is to educate, empower, and elevate every client’s skincare journey, and I’m excited to continue growing and evolving in this space.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities have been essential in my journey as a solo esthetician and business owner: resilience, adaptability, and client connection.
1. Resilience – As a Black woman in the esthetics world, I often felt like I had to carve out my own path. Many skincare brands didn’t formulate products with melanin-rich skin in mind, and education on treating darker skin tones was often overlooked. I had to seek out knowledge beyond what was traditionally taught and advocate for inclusivity in the industry. My advice: Stay persistent. If you don’t see a space for yourself, create one. The road may not always be easy, but pushing through the obstacles will set you apart.
2. Adaptability – The skincare industry is constantly evolving, and I’ve had to be proactive in learning—not just about new treatments, but also about what truly works for melanin-rich skin. Many of my clients come to me after struggling with hyperpigmentation or being misinformed about how to care for their skin. My advice: Never stop learning. Seek education that goes beyond the mainstream narrative. Take courses, study diverse skin concerns, and make sure you can confidently serve all skin tones.
3. Client Connection – Skincare is personal, and for many Black clients, finding an esthetician who truly understands their needs can be difficult. I make it a priority to not just treat the skin, but to educate and empower my clients. My advice: Listen more than you speak. Understand your clients’ frustrations and goals, and provide solutions that actually work. When you build trust, you build a business that lasts.

My journey has been about more than just skincare—it’s been about creating a space where all skin is valued, understood, and cared for. And that’s what keeps me going.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Without a doubt, my mom has been the most instrumental person in helping me overcome challenges and develop the skills I needed to succeed. From the very beginning, she instilled in me the values of hard work, resilience, and independence. She always reminded me that I belonged in any room I walked into, even when I didn’t feel included.

Watching her navigate life with strength and determination showed me what it means to persevere, even when the odds aren’t in your favor. She encouraged me to trust my instincts, keep learning, and never settle for less than what I deserved.

Whenever I faced setbacks—whether it was feeling overlooked in the industry, struggling to find products that catered to melanin-rich skin, or simply doubting myself—she was the one who reminded me why I started. Her unwavering belief in me pushed me to keep going, and her wisdom has shaped the way I run my business today.

Her support has been my foundation, and I carry her lessons with me in everything I do.
