We recently connected with Casanova Red and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Casanova Red, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I stutter when I talk and have conversations with others. I was always embarrassed to speak to an individual or stand up in front of a crowd to give a speech. I gained my confidence through music. When I write music I don’t stutter at all. My music became not only a passion but also therapy to me as well to where it helped me gain the confidence I needed, in order to do the many things I couldn’t do as far as having conversations outside of writing music. Now I can be able to help those that are handicapped in many ways, or that have a stuttering problem letting them know it’s okay to be who you are just as long as you gain the confidence to do what it is you love.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I was incarcerated for a longtime for the poor decisions I made that led into negative consequences. After my incarceration I returned back into society and made a major change. Not only do I write music but I am also the head director for admissions/ business development and Resident Care Coordinator. I work for a company by the name of Champion care based out of Wisconsin and we work with patients in nursing homes and hospitals. I’ve successfully been on 3 billboards in Times Square, I was nominated for best new artist in Miami in 2022 and have been in many magazines as an inspiring up and coming artist. My story is driven because I can teach those who have no sense of direction the proper guidance because of what I’ve been through. I want them to know and acknowledge that failure is not an option and neither is going backwards. Change happens when you want it and not when others tell you what’s best for you or needed at the moment. I want to bring the hope back to the communities that have been lost from the many violence that we continue to witness on a daily basis. We shall overcome only if we look at the individuals we want to kill or hurt, and see our reflection that becomes us in many ways. My goal is to touch the many hearts of those that are cold just as well as catching the ears of those who will listen. I believe my story will also reach and change a lot only because my story and my pain is what many are going through now. Therefore my story will be a success story.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back I think I had many skills. One of those skills was being a leader and someone who listened despite my choices and decisions that impacted my future. The only advice I have for many is for them to remember making mistakes is normal but it’s what we learn from our mistakes in order to better who we are as people. Continue to grow your skills by gaining the knowledge that is needed. Understand your purpose and your goals that would make a difference in the beginning of your journey. Trust yourself and what works for you.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My mother was the biggest help in overcoming my many challenges, trials and tribulations. She’s more than a supporter but a woman who saw what I failed to see in myself. With her energy and love I saw what was needed in me in order for me to take charge of the many skills I possessed to make a difference not only in my life but in the life of others. Also meeting my wife changed me and helped me a lot as well. She helped me heal in many ways by also helping me identify with what’s most important which is our family and the foundation of our future.
