Meet Casey George

We recently connected with Casey George and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Confidence and self-esteem was something I developed early but got better at growing up. I’m a military brat so my family and I moved every 3 years. While it was an adventurous life, there was a lot a struggle that came with it. You don’t have a childhood best friend that you grow up with, you get bullied a lot for being the new kid in school, if you are on the autism spectrum like me it’s extremely hard to fit in, even as an adult. I would say when I got into Martial Arts when I was around 9 or 10 years old the confidence development came around. I took martial arts around the time I moved to Hawaii and endured some bullying that no 4th grade girl should ever deal with. I learned how to defend myself and was taught how to become tough in the face of adversity. I had amazing teachers and masters from different dojos and styles from when I lived in Hawaii, South Carolina, and finally Texas!
Now as an adult, the world is much bigger and scarier that not even cool jump roundhouse kicks can save you from nasty people. People that think you are too weird for them, not special enough, or just want to tear you down out of spite or fun. Social media and showing off my artwork or voice has helped my self-esteem a lot! It helped me learn to be myself and the best part is people from all over love it. It’s what led me to have a good support system of close friends. Whether they be 10 minutes away, the next state over, or across the globe! Using social media and being a content creator even helped me discover hidden talents I didn’t even know I have. Voice acting is one of them!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I would be delighted!

My name is Casey George! If that name doesn’t quite ring a bell, I’m also known as WeatherWitch or Weather0Witch in the internet spaces! I’m a creative with many talents, such as graphic design, illustrations, 2D animation and voice acting! I studied Media Arts and Animation at the Art Institutes of San Antonio. I’m also a proud hispanic Army Brat and a skilled martial artist of 4 fighting styles!

For my voice acting, I’m known for voicing in Gwain Saga as Princess Ami, Stacy Stackhouse in Sally MountainPeak, YUMiCON’s anime convention mascots Yumiko and Mochi, Dalia from Historia: Protect the Sun, and I recently got my first video game role in Vindictive Drive 2: Maidbot Archives as ARA Santa Fe! I’m also working on my own indie animated production called Mission: Space Cops 24!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

My three qualities are important lessons I’ve been taught and value a lot. Networking, building connections, and courage.
Networking is important because it helps get your name and work out there. Being a creative is more than just perfecting your craft. While practicing your craft is important, networking and showcasing your work to people is just as important. Especially in a world where the internet can be a helpful tool to get you seen! As creatives, it helps immensely to have a social media to showcase your latest piece of work you’ve done! Even making an online portfolio helps! Same applies to the real world. You can go to your local gaming convention and meet fellow creatives to not only support but get advice and share your work too!
Building connections is a step 2 to networking! For example, I have a lot of voice and art friends that I don’t think we would be good friends with if I didn’t get the chance to know them more. Sometimes, establishing connections with the people you networked can land you your next gig or even assembling a team for a big project you want to make! This step takes a lot of time, but it’s worth it in the long run.
Last but not least, Courage! Courage is something I value a lot. Funny enough, my name Casey means bravery. Courage is something I think every creative person should have. The world is not going to be so kind to new talent. There’s going to be people that will trash your work. Get rejected from a job opportunity from your dream studio. Outside events out of your control can even impact your life as it had for me. But even with all that, having the courage to keep going and keep showing your work is a quality that I think every creative person should have. Don’t be afraid to try new things, go to new places, and meet new people!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

This is such an exciting question! I have a lot of people and places I’d love to collaborate with. I can name four collaborations I’d love to do.
To start off with the first, I’d love to collaborate with up-and-coming indie animation productions. Indie Animation is on the rise, and I voice in a lot of them too. I’m even making one myself called Mission: Space Cops 24. I know a studio called Glitch Productions is a powerhouse in showing amazing productions. I’d love to voice for them or even be a part of their design team. Any indie studio would be cool, big or small!
Second, I’d love to collaborate with fellow voice actors and design merchandise or artwork for them. I’ve met so many voice actors as part of a con team called YUMiCON and I remember designing a print for Kara Edwards, a Dragon Ball voice actress. Lot of voice actors commission artists for prints or graphics for their banner. I’d love to collaborate with more voice actors for sure!
Third, I’d love to use my indie production, Mission: Space Cops 24, as a way to collab with the Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville Alabama! My production has a lot of NASA inspiration and real life inspiration from the museum! If a collab is not in the cards, I’d love to make some cool new graphics for the Space Camp program they do. I even went to Space Camp there in 2011! It’s such a fun place to learn about space, space history, and even check out new space related updates regarding NASA. Plus the sights of the space rocket displays they have is so mesmerizing everytime I visit Huntsville for family.
This last one is very personal to me. I’d love to collaborate with the Gary Sinise Foundation. Gary Sinise is a big-time Hollywood movie actor that starred in Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, and CSI: NY! Despite being a big-name actor, he has a charity foundation that helps wounded soldiers and their families. Gary Sinise has a music band that tours a lot of military bases. Growing up and always moving around the US every 3 years, I remember seeing his band in Hickam Air Force Base Hawaii around 2009 and Fort Sam Houston Texas in 2013 I believe. Personally, I’d love to be the Gen Z version of Gary with my name. Helping military vets, families, and especially military kids of the next generation when I grow bigger as a content creator/voice actor! I’d love to collaborate with Gary Sinise. I don’t know how but maybe making some cool art or voicing their content would be extremely cool!
