We recently connected with Casey Gomez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Casey, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
My confidence and self-esteem has matured over time. As a child, I was very shy and bashful. Growing up as a bi-racial child, I was different from most kids in the neighborhood. My Mother’s family and my Fathers family were very different and I often felt out of place no matter where I was. I was raised by my Grandmother who made sure I was always involved in the church, sports and in the community.
Being involved in social settings on a regular basis helped me to break out of my shell and to become more comfortable within my own skin per-se. I truly learned about my self confidence and self-esteem after I joined the United States Air Force in 1992, after High school. I learned that I was one amongst many of the different and intelligent airmen who were chasing the same path of acceptance and belonging. I was changed. After my military training, I learned to walk with proper posture and I was confident that I could achieve any goal placed before me. My Faith, my Family and my Military training have been the foundation of my confidence and self-esteem. These developments have carried over to my work ethics, my music career and beyond.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am crazy busy at the moment with multiple projects.
As the frontman for CFG & The Family, I have been working hard with the band to produce new music, booking and performing gigs, produce and sell merchandise, market the band to a larger audience and to engage with our local music community as often as possible. The Band is a full time job within itself. We are currently planning to release our second album on February 21st 2026, with an ambitious CD release party which will take place at The Fitton Center in Hamilton, Ohio. We plan to provide a “free” CD with each ticket purchase, the first set of music performed will be the album in entirety, the second set will be brand new songs, fleshed out for a Big-Band experience and performed with multiple guest artists including horns section, keys and backup-vocalist. Also as a bonus treat for our CD Release, we plan to record the event and release it soon after as a live recording. There are a lot of moving parts and it is quite the undertaking, but I am excited and can’t wait to make it happen. I love the challenge that it brings.
When I’m not busy acting as CFG, my daily job and “Clark Kent” identity is that of Creative Director, Consultant and owner of a Brand Development/Graphic Design/Photography company called THINKtank! Creatives. It is a new endeavor and I’ve been having a lot of fun helping to fulfill creative visions for my clients. I’ve recently built several websites and I am busy creating Brands and logos. Feel free to check it out here for all of your design needs: (www.thinktankcreatives.org)
I am also the Musical Director for a Non-profit organization called Cornstand Jam (https://www.cornstandjam.com/) Cornstand Jam is a community based, all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness towards mental health, suicide prevention, and increasing services for those living with mental health issues and to provide resources that help facilitate a more productive life. We just wrapped up our annual festival this past Sept and I am already looking forward to booking the next event for 2026.
Beyond all of that, my main areas of focus are geared towards spending quality time with my family and loved ones.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Although I often struggle with these, the three qualities I cherish would return to my Military values: Integrity, Service first and Excellence in all you do.
Integrity First: This means doing what is right, even when no one is looking, and is the basis for trust within the organization, whatever that may be. It requires honesty, accountability, and self-control.
I often struggle with this one and find myself always trying to “reel myself back” when faced with personal challenges.
Service Before Self: Emphasizes an uncommon dedication to service and the understanding that an individuals goals must be secondary to the good of everyone. Leaders must sacrifice individual goals to gain the trust of their team.
I often find myself giving in to the greater good and compromise wether that be decisions made within the band, my business or my close relationships. Letting go and sacrificing for the greater good can often be a challenge but also very rewarding for those relationships which are so very important.
Excellence in All We Do: This value means striving to maintain the highest standards in every task, whether it is a mission or a daily job. It means setting goals high and never giving up, even when faced with the impossible.
I am always trying to raise the bar. It may be a flaw. I hard on myself and I often expect too much. However, this core value has lead to success in all avenues of life.
It may sound corny, but it all applies to everything and it all encourages high self-standards and fosters growth.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always interested in expanding my creative circle and I love to share in the creative process and to collaborate with other musicians. I would love to lend my creative abilities wherever they are welcome. I not only sing and play harmonica, but the Bass is my first true love, I have been playing bass for over three decades, and MAN that makes me feel old as dirt. I also dabble in keys and guitar. I truly enjoy writing songs, lyrics and collaborating with song structure and theory. I think I have a good feel for how songs can be created and I really enjoy bouncing ideas off of other like-minded creatives. Sharing in that process is exiting and rewarding. I love the moment of “locking-in” on new song parts or when an impromptu jam session becomes something more defined. When that happens, jaws drop and everyone gets this look of awe and excitement, it’s truly magical. I’d love to collaborate with Nationally recognized talent, or be involved with a large project where I can lend my talents. Anyone who need a raspy cigar and bourbon soaked vocalist or an unfettered harmonica player? Hit me up.
