Meet Casey Hamilton

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Casey Hamilton a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Part of me doesn’t know where my confidence comes from exactly, but the other half of me knows exactly where it comes from. My confidence and self-esteem comes directly from my mother and father‘s support. From a very early age, my parents were my champions. They were my biggest supporters, they are my biggest fans, and they always made sure to tell me how proud they were of me and how talented I was and how I could do anything that I set my mind to. I would not be the person I am today without my family.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Primarily, I would consider myself a comedian in every aspect of my life. I am a teacher by trade, but I also inject elements of comedy into that job as well. The reason that I am on this earth is to entertain people, to make them laugh, and hopefully to make them learn something in the process. I feel that making people laugh and entertaining people is baked into my blood, so to be able to entertain people on a large scale through the Internet is a dream come true.

I’m just lucky to be here at all.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The advice I have for folks who are in their early journey is whenever you discover your moment – whenever you start to feel a gain of momentum when it comes to your content – that is when you need to double down. Post twice as much. Not everything is going to be a hit, but something will be.

Another piece of advice I have is not everything is content to everyone. What makes one person laugh will make another person disgusted, and that is perfectly OK. Don’t get caught up in negativity, and don’t be afraid to adapt your content.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

The number one obstacle that I am currently facing when it comes to my content is burnout. If you are thinking about becoming a content creator, or you want to enter this sphere, you have to be aware that burnout is very real and can suffocate you. The main things that I’m trying to do to overcome this challenge are to take time for me. If you need to take a break, take a break and don’t feel guilty about it.
