We were lucky to catch up with Cashunda Gilbert recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cashunda, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
My husband and I had an idea back in 2012 that we wanted to write a stageplay. We wrote a script together called “Cheating in the next room” and it began from there. We tried to get help with funding our dream but received no backing at all. So at this point, we were parents of 3 kids with a dream both working hard to provide for our family and also follow our dreams. Finally, we were able to come up with an idea to start our own Entertainment company because no one believed in us. We got so many no’s but continued to move forward. We then put back enough to fund our first production and pay our cast and staff in 2014.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am the wife of an amazing writer and a mother of 4 children who works hard. I put my heart into every piece of work that is released. My husband and I come up with an idea, write the series or script, and pay for the venue and production. None of this would happen without the help of all of the talented individuals who work hard to help our stories come to life. We appreciate everyone who is a part of King Legend Entertainment Group. We were able to complete our first full-length movie called “On the Outside Looking In” It was released on YouTube on January 6, 2021. Our first stage play was “Cheating in the Next Room”, the second stageplay was put on at the Uptown Theater in Grand Prairie called ‘One Night Stand” and it was a hit. We released it on Youtube as well as a hit series called “Hittaz INC”. Also, we have a podcast on our King Legend Entertainment Group YouTube page.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I appreciate all of our fans for being patient with us and supporting us in our quest to follow our dreams by being able to tell our stories while entertaining the world. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be able to do what we do and raise 4 children. Together my husband Larry Gilbert Jr and I have been able to live our dream and continue to push out new projects. We are grateful for the opportunities that we’ve been given and we absolutely love our fans.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We want our projects to be able to be seen on Tubi Television. We have so many other projects that we worked on and have not released as of yet.
