Meet Cassandra Duffy

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cassandra Duffy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cassandra, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

As a health professional, I had to remain resilient to get through school and earn my degree. I also must maintain my license to practice and attend evidence-based courses every year to fulfill my continuing education requirements.
I feel it is my calling to foster an environment of healing for my clients and I aim to promote whole-self resilience: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
In general, I am tenacious from having to adapt quickly many times throughout my life. A lot of things weren’t up to me, like moving a lot as a child. Experiencing loss of loved ones starting from a young age, seeing and hearing my family cry and break and rebuild. Having to move halfway across the country at 13 and make new friends. A lot of it didn’t seem fair.
Other things were my decision, though. Like putting continuous effort into those new friendships, still to this day. Moving back to Albuquerque from Portland as an adult, 13 years ago. Meeting my husband and having a partner/best-friend in this life. Expanding our love through our son and creating a home built on love, trust, communication, and accountability. Personally, my ultimate goal is to provide a life for my family that we’ve never had before and ensure we are safe and secure in all aspects.
I feel incredibly blessed to be here! I continue to work hard every day in helping my client’s trust their body and embrace its natural self-healing abilities.
My name is Cassandra. I am a stretch therapist and sound healer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have been practicing physical therapy for over 9 years and have experience in manual therapy techniques, including facilitated stretches, cupping, and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM).

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

By trade, I am a physical therapist assistant. I have been licensed and practicing in the state of New Mexico for nearly a decade. My passion lies in manual therapy; I believe that you have to get your hands on the patient to feel the body’s response to treatment. I’ve attended several continuing education courses consisting of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), muscle energy techniques (METs), joint mobilisations, functional mobility training, and kinesiology taping.

Running my own business has always been a dream and now it’s slowly coming to fruition for which I am so proud and grateful! It wasn’t until recently that I’ve come to realize my desire for helping others and easing their pain is what makes me happy. Providing others with relief (whether through stretch therapy or as a sound bath facilitator) is so fulfilling and rewarding. Creating genuine connections that lead to referrals and positive experiences is my personal testament of success.

In the past, I have collaborated with yoga instructors who host cannabis camping events and performed sound baths at Full Moon ceremonies for a local studio. Attendees frequently reported feeling calm and relaxed after my performances and I’m often invited back for private events.

Recently, I had the pleasurable opportunity to do a promotional photo event at a local cannabis farm. It was a wonderful experience and we plan on collaborating for future events as well, so stay tuned!

Mt ultimate goal is to have my own studio where I can provide stretch therapy and sound healing in the same space, maximizing my client’s time and energy, resulting in happier, more balanced members of my community.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Communication skills! Look at someone’s face while having a conversation with them. If making eye contact is difficult for you like it is for me, I choose to focus on something specific like their right eyebrow or bridge of their nose.

Intuition. Always, always trust that inside voice or that feeling in your stomach.

Networking is one of the most important and powerful tools. Create strong and personal connections with other business owners in your community. Reach out to collaborate with various communities and learn who your services will best cater to.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am always welcoming collaboration opportunities! My full menu of services offers a spa-like self care vibe that can benefit most anyone. I highly recommend starting with a sound bath if you have never experienced one for yourself before, followed by a series of stretch sessions for best results.
