We were lucky to catch up with Cassandra Paige recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cassandra, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
As a child, I found comfort in painting, drawing, and sculpting—creating worlds I could escape into. Growing up in a tumultuous and dysfunctional household, where emotional stability and guidance were scarce, art became my safe space. It was more than just a pastime; it was a way to build the structure I lacked in real life.
At first, my canvases were paper and clay, but when I reached my early teens, my medium changed—I discovered makeup. What started as self-expression soon became something even bigger: connection. I loved painting faces just as much as I loved painting on canvas, but there was something special about seeing the way someone’s eyes lit up when they saw themselves differently. The first time I did makeup for a friend, I realized the magic wasn’t just in the colors or the technique—it was in the way it made them feel.
Over time, this passion grew from a hobby into something deeper. I saw how makeup could empower, heal, and bring joy.
Makeup artistry has been my constant in a world that is always changing. It is my north star, my form of storytelling, and my way of bringing light into others’ lives. When I feed my creativity, it feeds me right back—keeping me curious, inspired, and deeply connected to the world around me.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a professional makeup artist, educator, and the founder of Asterisk Beauty*, a cosmetics brand dedicated to enhancing natural beauty. Over the past 13 years, I’ve worked across every avenue of the makeup industry—TV/film, commercial, fashion/editorial, red carpet, and live performances—honing my craft and developing a signature style. I’ve become known for my ability to create a fresh, glowing, no-makeup makeup look—where skin still looks like skin, just enhanced.
For as long as I’ve been doing makeup, I’ve also loved creating my own products. I struggled to find formulas that could achieve the luminous, sunlit skin effect I envisioned—something that wasn’t glittery, oily, or heavy but worked seamlessly across all skin types and tones. That challenge led to the creation of Asterisk Beauty*.
It all started with one product: The No-Filter Filter, designed to hydrate, plump, and give skin an airbrushed, naturally radiant glow. What began as a personal solution quickly grew into something bigger—an entire beauty brand dedicated to innovative, professional-grade products that enhance your natural features while keeping beauty routines accessible, effortless, and elevated.
I’m currently expanding Asterisk Beauty* with new, cutting-edge formulations that bridge the gap between professional performance and everyday wear. My goal is to create products that simplify beauty without compromising on luxury—because everyone deserves to look and feel their best, effortlessly.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my career, I wish I had worked with other artists earlier on instead of trying to go it alone. There’s so much power in community, and while it’s absolutely possible to build a successful career independently, mentors play such an important role in helping you grow—both professionally and personally.
I’ve realized that mentorship is more accessible in some fields, like finance, law, and technology, where there are clearer, structured paths to finding guidance. However, in creative industries, even though there are countless experienced professionals eager to mentor, there isn’t always a clear roadmap for connecting with them. Creative fields tend to be less structured and more solitary, which can make it harder to navigate your career path without support.
My advice to those starting out is simple: reach out to anyone whose work you admire and who inspires you—whether that be through networking events, agencies, or even social media. Don’t be afraid to talk to people! You never know what doors might open when you reach out to your heroes or fellow professionals in your industry. You’re never bugging anyone. Those who want to help will help, and there are so many people out there who would love to offer advice or opportunities, and at the very least, you are getting your name out there and connecting with other people who you respect and look up to.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always excited to connect with passionate professionals in the TV/film industry, whether you’re an artist, director, stylist, or anyone in the entertainment world. Over the years, I’ve seen the incredible power of collaboration, and I’m especially eager to work with like-minded creatives who share a love for storytelling and innovation. Being a makeup artist in Los Angeles, the entertainment industry has hit so many bumps in the road and it becomes harder and harder to join the Union. Working on a film set is by far my favorite place to be. I love the energy attention to detail and collaboration that goes into creating a film.
I would love to assist and learn from more experienced professionals in the TV/film space who can offer guidance as I continue to grow and evolve in my career. Whether it’s insights into working on larger projects, navigating the entertainment industry, or sharing industry knowledge, I truly value the opportunity to learn from those who have paved the way.
In addition to mentorship, I’m also open to product collaborations. If you’re in the industry and interested in creating something unique, whether it’s a beauty product or a creative collaboration that blends our skills together, I’d love to hear from you.
If you’re interested in working together, mentoring, or just sharing some wisdom, don’t hesitate to reach out! You can connect with me through social media @by_cassandrapaige or feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. I’m excited to see what we can create together!
