We were lucky to catch up with Cassandra Ramirez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cassandra , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I think the work ethic is more of a genetic and observational thing for me, my parents who were born in mexico and came to the U.S almost 30 yrs ago and since day one they have always been nothing but hard working people. So by seeing it in them I easily got influenced by them by watching then work hard everyday, also keeping myself disiplined that everything in life is a huge responsibility and this Business I decided to persue I see it like that . Myself im not the best being a school student but found out I am more of a entrepreneur mind set so work for me in my business come in natural to keep pushing and making it better day by day, I enjoy staying busy, and my mind full of ideas that I want to accomplish.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello there this is my story and I would love to share it, just for everyone to get to know me a little bit more, Im currently 26 years old, I graduated from Paul Mitchell cosmetology school back in 2018 so I know a little bit of everything for example (hair color, haircutting, how to apply hair extensions, applying keratin treatments more like the brazilian blowout type of service) and now focusing more on Makeup & Hair for weddings and as a Eyebrow Specialist which covers eyebrow mapping, eyebrow waxing, eyebrow tinting, eyebrow lamination service. Through out these years ive leaned more towards what I truly enjoy doing.I continue my education to stay up to date with everything new that comes out. I started my business page on google as a full salon hair services and shifted to makeup and hair only, every day i truly wake up with the intention that every post i share on social media will take me to success, showcasing my talents through every services and being able to nework with my own industry but what I find more special about this business is the relationships done with other business owners, who own a venue or do video or photography, etc… making collaborations I truly enjoy. To my business brand, im a first gen Latina and my content is based of that, throught my style of work and the music I add to my reels, everything is for a reason, because I love attracting that type of clientele, since I do makeup and hair i do for any type of event when I am getting someone ready I already know they feel like family, but also they will love and respect my work. My goal one day is to create a strong brand that people will easily remeber, relate and continue to refer by word of mouth becuase they know every client will be treated the best of the best.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say the top 3 things that helped me and that will take you to builing a strong foundation if you ever decide to start a business is, 1. Always be a student, never think you know it all because there is always someone 2 steps ahead. 2. Surround yourself with positive business owners, they will always have an advise to share and with help you business, 3. Be an eployee first to learn the fundamentals learn from a mentor and practice the skill everyday until you feel like you are ready to fly on you own. An advise is that everyone’s business journey always looks different, focus on your and how can you improve it, even ask your own clients get their feedback, but if you want to see the growth even the days you don’t feel like it just continue to show up for youself everyday.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
I would say coming here to the U.S for not just a better future for them but for a better future myself who is their daugther and my brother, and now we get to pass on that to our kids , the fact we know 2 languges, Spanish and English such a flex, I have the best of both worlds. I feel like there really is no limits for me at this point. I have everything i need in life to succeed.
