We were lucky to catch up with Cassidy Valge recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassidy, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
When people meet me now — a 21-year-old marketing specialist at Estonia’s leading media house – they often assume I’ve always been this organized and focused. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. My discipline didn’t come naturally; it was built piece by piece, shaped by every decision, every long night, and every challenge I faced on my way here.
My journey began after high school, when I decided to take a gap year. I worked full-time and quickly realized I wanted more. I wanted to create something of my own. With a background in filmmaking and storytelling, I started offering video creation for brands. At first, I worked for free just to gain experience and build a portfolio. Over time, I began collaborating with bigger and bigger Estonian brands
.
Those early months taught me my first big lesson about discipline: success doesn’t come from only motivation, it comes from consistency. Showing up, even when you don’t feel like it, is what truly moves you forward.
Even when I had a full-time job, full-time university, my own business, trainings, and everything else on my plate…it wasn’t easy, but I always showed up and gave my very best. There were days when I was exhausted or doubted myself, but giving up was never an option. Each time I pushed through, I proved to myself that consistency and commitment are what truly build results.
My Tips for Staying Disciplined and Balanced
1. Plan your days, including rest.
I organize my days carefully to make sure I stay productive, but I also schedule breaks. Rest is part of discipline, not the opposite of it. Without recovery, you burn out before you even reach your goals.
2. Have the will to do and achieve.
Discipline starts with desire, the will to improve and grow. When your “why” is strong, it’s easier to stay consistent even when things get hard.
3. Push yourself out of your comfort zone.
Growth never happens when things feel easy. Every time I’ve said “yes” to something that scared me, like starting a business, working with big clients, or balancing multiple roles – I’ve discovered a stronger version of myself.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Right now, I work as a Marketing Specialist at Estonia’s largest media house, where my main focus is on B2B marketing. My role involves building and executing marketing strategies, creating campaigns that connect with business audiences, and finding creative ways to communicate complex ideas in a simple and engaging way.
Alongside my full-time role, I continue to run my own small business, where I create videos and social media content for brands. I started it about a year ago, and it’s still something I’m passionate about. Being on both sides, working in a large organization and running my own projects, gives me a unique perspective on how marketing works across different scales.
What I find most special about my work is the constant learning. Marketing never stands still – new tools, trends, and platforms appear every day. I love that it challenges me to stay curious and always evolve.
Even when I have a full-time job, full-time university, my own business, trainings, and other things on my plate, it isn’t easy, but I always show up and give my very best.
At the moment, I’m also working on something completely new – launching my own little candle e-commerce brand. It’s a project I’ve been quietly building behind the scenes, something I haven’t shared publicly until now. The process is in full motion, and the launch should happen in the next few months. It’s exciting to build something from scratch again, to combine my love for branding, design, and product creation in a way that feels deeply personal.
To be honest, I don’t know exactly what the future will bring and I like it that way. My main focus is on developing myself, experimenting, and staying open to new opportunities. I’ve always enjoyed doing many things at once – it keeps me inspired, creative, and constantly learning.
You don’t have to have it all figured out, you just have to take the first step, and keep showing up.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey are self-discipline, curiosity, and adaptability. Each of them has played a different but equally important role in helping me grow personally and professionally.
1. Self-Discipline
Without a doubt, self-discipline has been the foundation of everything I’ve achieved. Balancing life hasn’t been easy. There were many moments when I felt tired or overwhelmed, but showing up every single day made all the difference.
My advice: Don’t wait for motivation. Build routines and structure your days so that progress becomes part of your lifestyle. Even small, consistent actions add up over time.
2. Curiosity and the Will to Learn
I’ve always had a strong desire to understand how things work, whether it’s marketing strategy, social media algorithms, or business models. Curiosity keeps me inspired and constantly learning new skills, which is so important in an industry that changes fast.
My advice: Be endlessly curious. Read, listen, experiment, and never assume you already know enough. The moment you stop learning, you stop growing.
3. Adaptability and Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone
From starting my own business to joining company as the youngest marketing specialist, and now everything else, I’ve constantly had to adapt to new challenges. Every new step felt uncomfortable at first, but that’s where the biggest growth happened.
My advice: Don’t be afraid to try new things, even if you’re unsure where they’ll lead. Growth starts the moment you step outside your comfort zone and give yourself permission to fail and learn.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Honestly, the person who has helped me the most in overcoming challenges and building the skills I needed is myself. I’ve always pushed myself to show up, stay disciplined, and keep learning, even when things felt overwhelming. That internal drive has been the engine behind everything I’ve achieved so far.
Of course, I’ve had support along the way – my family, friends and my partner have been encouraging and mentally supportive, reminding me to take breaks and celebrate small wins. Beyond that, I’ve also found inspiration and guidance in books. One of my favorites is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, which shaped the way I think about money, business, and taking responsibility for my own growth.
In the end, while external support helps, the biggest difference comes from deciding to push yourself, stay consistent, and keep learning, that’s what truly drives progress.
