Meet Cassie Davis

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cassie Davis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cassie below.

Hi Cassie , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I remember feeling like something was missing for years in my life. I felt a stirring in my spirit, an unfulfilled longing for more. On the surface things looked great. I had a great job where I was advancing, I was happily married…..I was checking off many of the boxes for reaching the American dream. But, still, I felt so very incomplete. I felt like I was always seeking the thing that would bring me contentment, the thing that would set my soul on fire. In time what I would realize is that my purpose would not be found from looking further within, but looking out, outside of myself. In time, my purpose would be found in serving.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I have the amazing privilege of running a very special annual vendor market featuring 65+ local makers all giving back to amazing causes, travel with a mobile fair trade shop to different markets throughout Ohio, and operate two lovely fair trade brick and mortar storefronts in the very best destinations in Ohio, the Hocking Hills and the Lake Erie shores. I have always loved to shop, truly it is one of my most favorite past times. I used to joke that I would love to be a professional shopper….I didn’t know that one day that very joke would become a beautiful reality that would serve far more than myself. Instead it would serve the marginalized and the oppressed from here in the US all the way across the globe. This shopping would be the hands and feet of Jesus in motion, living out the gospel message by serving the least of these.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe it is my empathy, my drive, and my ability to rally and lead people that has helped make this all possible. When my heart breaks over something I will do everything within my ability to create change.

If I were to give advice to someone early in the process of creating something you believe in from the ground up I would say buckle up. The ride will be bumpy, but stay on track….in time it will all be worth it. Persevere! Anything worth doing will be hard and take a ton of effort and at times inevitable disappointment. But remember, you are built to do hard things!

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My husband. Seriously. He is built for business and all of the tough stuff that I am far from good at. Every time I want to quit he stirs me onward. He supports me and comes alongside me in every aspect of this. His is strong where I am weak and vice versa.
