Meet Catchfire

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Catchfire. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Catchfire below.

Catchfire, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

For us it’s all about the people. When we get to perform and meet great folks at our shows, or even when we hear the excitement from people on social media, that makes us optimistic for the future. It pushes us towards our dreams and goals of bringing people together through our music, and gives us a pleasant reminder that we can do that and that there are lots of great people out there who will be happy to join us on that journey.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Our passion is fueled as we create our art, and we come alive when we get to perform our songs on stage. The more we get to do this, and the more heart and soul we put into it, the more we start to see those efforts bring together a beautiful landscape in front of us. We truly believe in our music, from start to finish. We believe that it has the power to speak to people and to help us relate to them on a spiritual level. We allow the songs to flow through us from their creation, and we’ve seen that energy pass through to other people as well at our shows. Our hope is that the more often we push to spread our art into the world, the more that people will start to feel the same energy that we do and will be uplifted with us.

And on that note, we can’t wait for you to hear our new single, Wild Side, out everywhere now! We also have several shows coming up this month, and lots of new exciting things at the start of the year!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Knowing yourself is number one. If you don’t know yourself from the start, you won’t be able to allow the energy from your art to flow through you, and you also won’t be able to understand the people around you and share that energy with them. Perseverance is number two. You can do anything, and don’t ever tell yourself otherwise. And number three, as a musician, would probably have to be, practice, practice, practice. Do what you love, and be the absolute best you can possibly be at it.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

Both are important. To expand upon our answer to the last question, you have to do what you love to start. If you are truly passionate about something, make sure you are the best you can be, but that you are always improving and are happy with that along the way, otherwise you’ll get stuck. However, there are countless skills and areas of expertise to pull from for anything in life, and learning everything you can will help point you towards your passion, as long as you keep that original flame burning in your soul all the while. To get specific, as an artist, band, musician, etc. in today’s world, the expectation is to Do It Yourself. With social media and the countless other tools we have nowadays, you can reach new heights on your own that used to be unfathomable. So learn everything you can about these tools, and be strategic with how you implement them into your world. Just remember, all of this is relative to your situation, and one tool or bit of knowledge may be monumental to one person but meaningless to another. We’re all at different points in our journey, and that’s ok, so just keep on keepin’ on.
