Meet Catherine Monzon

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Catherine Monzon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Catherine, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

To say I have completely figured out and lived my purpose would mean I have nothing left to live for so in may ways I believe my purpose is still unfolding and revealing itself to me by the way of my thoughts, interests, and intuitive impulses. I have always known since I was a little girl that I had a mission to help and be of service to others, and I’ve been living in that purpose professionally as an educator and in my personal interactions as a Reiki Master, but I don’t think I’ve fully “arrived” to that feeling of “okay this is what I was born to do, my job is now done.”

The expression of my purpose hasn’t always looked the same, and has evolved and grown with me over time. Because of this, I have a very flexible approach and perspective when it comes to my purpose and try to remain open to the signs and synchronicities of life because this gives us clues about our purpose and how to express it in a given moment. Sometimes in the journey to find our purpose, things may seem chaotic or not make sense, but then all of a sudden, years later, you see why your journey unfolded the way it did and how it all ties into the grand scheme of what you’re meant to do in this lifetime. The journey to finding my purpose is rooted in trust in two things:
1. my inner guidance system that will take me where I need to go, and
2. the Universe that masterfully weaves everything together for my highest good.

Ultimately, I lean into what feels good and “right” at the moment and it has never failed me wrong.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

In my professional life, I am a Program Administrator at a prestigious University in New York City. Prior to this, my background is in counseling and managing alternative education pathways for NYC youth. When I am not working my 9 to 5, I am Chief Operations Officer and Marketing Consultant for a booming multiart-events company called RAP Living that curates events all around the city. As if all of this doesn’t keep me busy enough, the work I’m most passionate about are my spiritual classes. I teach Usui Reiki (levels 1, 2, & 3) to people that want to begin a self healing journey and learn the tools to self regulate their nervous system. Reiki is a Japanese holistic energy-healing technique that replenishes the body’s energy reserve through channeled Cosmic energy. I have been a Reiki Master Teacher since 2019 and have my own school called Sacred Heart Reiki School that has over 50 students and counting in NY/NJ and Florida. This is the work that is most closely intertwined with my purpose and that fuels me. Along with teaching, I offer energy clearing sessions, create spiritual bath products, write manuals and ebooks on spiritual development topics, and find creative ways to spiritually educate and serve my community whenever possible. I am most excited about my upcoming classes in March and May 2025 in NYC and my first class in San Juan, Puerto Rico this May as well. Public classes are offered every couple of months and private classes can be booked at any time. Outside of being a Reiki Master and Spiritual Teacher, I am a multidisciplinary artist that uses different mediums of art to express my thoughts, passions, and multi-layered identities. My artistic foundation is in acrylic painting, but lately, I’ve been having a lot of fun of creating digital collage art and want to explore bringing this art to life on canvas in the near future.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities or life-approaches I recommend for people to adopt are:
1. Being flexible in life and adapting to what’s needed from you in a moment, never getting fixated
2. Having faith in yourself and in the Universe that everything is unfolding in your favor and success is inevitable
3. Have fun and leaning into what feels good or makes you excited because these are signs from your mind-body-spirit of what direction you should be going in.

Yes, these life approaches are easier said than done, but if cultivated, they support you in living a life rooted in joy, trust, and authenticity. Everyday, coach yourself towards adopting this lifestyle by redirecting doubt and negative thoughts or habits and giving yourself the reassurance that you deserve.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My parents raised me well and gave me all of the life-preparation that they can, but I am deeply grateful for my spiritual mentor and godfather, Timothy, who has been in my life since I was 18 years old and filled in many gaps in my growth that my parents weren’t able to. In many ways it’s like my parents raised me til young adulthood and Tim has raised me from adulthood forward. There is nothing like having someone in your corner who loves you, sees you for who you are without the biases that come with being your parent, and continuously pushes you toward your personal greatness.
