Meet Cece Hymes

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cece Hymes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cece, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by engaging in activities that inspire and nurture my imaginative spirit. I do challenges, read and also listen to other’s journeys and testimonies. I think out of the box and try to come up with things other’s are not doing or put a twist on things to make the things I am doing stand out from everyone elses. The most important part is being consistent. You have to keep putting out content to keep the things you have going alive. Stay relevant so people can know you are working and what you are doing matters.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hello, I am Cece Hymes the Founder of Where It Begins. I am also a journalist, blogger, and content creator. I am a jack of all trades. I love to learn new things. I am from D.C. but live here in the Atlanta area. I love networking and helping others.

We have been focusing on people talents and getting out the best interviews and articles of their journey and testimonies out to the world.

We are creating content for businesses and entrepreneurs highlighting their products and what they have to offer. It is so much I am working on right now. With the Magazine we are putting out issues every month doing interviews and sharing that on our podcast which is on Anchor, Apple, Google and you can check out our YouTube channel to get the exclusive interview. I have a Women’s Group called W.S.S.(Woman Stand Strong) where we do things once a month and just be able to catch up with one another. I have a book club called Cece Book Club where we virtual get together and discuss a book that we picked to read for that month. Sometimes we have the Author on with us to ask questions about the book. The recent project I am working on is with R.A.L.E.Y. Inc, a nonprofit where we do different things in the community. I love giving back and volunteering.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities and skills you have to have in this industry is integrity, communication, and creativeness. These helped me in the business.

1. Integrity- Refers to the quality of being honest, having strong moral principles and adhering to a code of ethics to value. People with integrity demonstrate fairness, honesty, and compassion in their interactions with others.

2. Communication- It goes a long ways. It is a fundamental aspect of human interaction and plays a vital role in various aspects of life including personal relationships, professional setting, education, and society as whole.

3. Creativeness- To generate original and innovative ideas, solutions, and expressions. It involves thinking outside of the box, approaching problems from new perspectives and combining existing concepts in novel ways. Creativity is not limited to artistic or aesthetic pursuits but it’s a valuable trait in various domains including arts, sciences, business and everyday life.

The best advice to give to other’s is to think out of the box. Be you and never give up. Be consistent and read and learn. Study your craft. Just be you.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Who has been helpful to me is friends and family. I have some of the greatest friends and family. They support me and always giving me advice. I appreciate them more than they think.

Some of the challenges I overcome by prayer. I put everything in God hands. In this industry you have to have patience and be strong. Don’t let anyone talk you into doing anything you do not want to do. Some of the knowledge I needed to be successful is taking a risk and just going for it. I like to listen to a lot of motivation videos on YouTube by Steve Harvey, Oprah, and others. Steve Harvey has one and a book that says take that Jump to go for it take the chance you never know where it will go and to you take a leap of faith.

Thanks for the interview and thanks to all my supporters, family and friends.
