Meet Celeste De’Vine

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Celeste De’Vine. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Celeste , so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?

For me self care looks like being intentional about the way I speak to myself. Instead of asking myself what am I going to wear in the mornings, I ask myself, “How will I adorn myself today?” I incorporate positive affirmations into my daily practice. Self care also includes making time to relax and maintaining a clean, peaceful living space. I like to think of myself as a mermaid, so I love taking baths and being surrounded by beautiful things. For me, creating a space that is a reflection of who I am is the ultimate form of self care and self love. I must remind myself of who I am at all times. This is one of the main reason that I started Finds By De’Vine, so that I could bring a piece of myself with me in the form of what I am wearing as a reminder of who I am. My mission is to help other people find a piece of themselves to be adorned with as well. I believe self care is a lifestyle and something to be practiced daily and intentionally.

As far as the impact it has on my effectiveness, incorporating a healthy self care practice helps me to set better boundaries with myself and others. I can be very hardworking so, paying attention to my body and mind and respecting it helps me know when to take a break before I burn myself out. It helps me refuel and when I get back to work, I am more focused and accomplish way more!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Finds By De’Vine is a clothing resell online shop that specializes in plus size clothing and vintage clothing. I also picked up the hobby of making jewelry which I sell as well. I love finding unique pieces with bright, bold colors and patterns. Not only am I excited to be a size inclusive, gender inclusive shop but I am also excited by the fact that I get to help reduce waste and help preserve our planet. I think environmental preservation is so important in our world today and shopping vintage is a small but impactful way to preserve mother earth.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One of the main qualities I feel that has been the most impactful in my journey is authenticity. I think it’s very important to to be true to who you are, especially when creating a business that you love. Another skill that has been helpful has been my eye for vintage fashion. I source all of my inventory myself so knowing what to look for when I go shopping helps me to save time and money because I know exactly what type of fabrics, cuts, and prints I want to have in my shop. Lastly, I think being teachable has helped me alot. I never want to be in a mindset of thinking that I know it all, that helps me to be able to improve myself and revamp myself as needed.

I would definitely encourage people who are just starting out to have a clear and defined motivation for what they are trying to build. Knowing your “why” will help you to stay focused and motivated when things get rough. Also, I encourage people to ask for help and accept as much help as possible. Things run a lot smoother when you are able to delegate task instead of burning yourself out trying to do it all.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I think the most impactful thing my parents did for me was expose me to art and different cultures. Both of my parents are very eccentric people in there own way and I like to think of myself and the perfect combination of the both of them. They collectively gifted me with a love of all things music and I have a very well rounded taste of it. My mother gifted me with a love of artist expression. She loves to create beautiful spaces and I have adopted that and added her creative flare in my personal life as well as in the pieces I add to my shop. My father taught me how to be productive and discipline which has really helped me with the back end business aspect of Finds By De’Vine. I am very grateful to have had their combined influence in my life.
