Meet Celine Moser

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Celine Moser. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Celine below.

Celine, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

I wasn’t always an optimistic person; in fact, I used to be pretty pessimistic. I became more optimistic when I stopped looking at challenges or “failures” as something that was happening to me and instead I started looking at them as opportunities to learn and grow. I would say, “Okay, what do I need to learn from this?” And now I usually take them as signs that it’s time to pivot. And I know that I can confidently say that every hardship brought me something positive. Maybe it was clarity on what I really wanted to do with my business, courage to take risks and put myself out there and snag amazing opportunities, budget properly so my business can survive the lows, open doors for new opportunities, take a much needed rest that my body needed, and so many more things. It also helped me build confidence in my ability to work through hardships and overcome challenges.

One true thing is that most problems have a solution. It’s okay to give yourself a moment to feel your feelings about stressful or negative situations, but you can’t pitch a tent there. Allowing a bad situation to wreck your entire day, week, or month isn’t going to solve the problem. It isn’t going to make it better if anything, it’s going to make it worse. It took me a while to embrace this way of thinking, but once I did, it was so freeing. I am a smart, capable, and resourceful woman who is adept at finding solutions to most problems. In today’s world, the resources are endless. Once I realized this, it made it a lot easier for me to be optimistic.

And finally, there truly is so much to be grateful for. I know it’s easy to look over the little things that we take for granted because we are so used to having them, but those little things are truly what make life so special. I take time to appreciate these little things like my morning walks with the birds chirping, my favorite cup of coffee on our deck, my sweet son on the couch, and my husky by my feet. Even in the hardest times, there are always things to be grateful for. Spend more time focusing on those things.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I started my business four years ago as a virtual assistant. Two years ago, I pivoted to an online business manager. I help 7-figure business owners operate their business behind the scenes. I love what I do because I get to work with clients in different industries, and my tasks vary for each of them, so it keeps things fun! My days typically look like a lot of email support for my clients’ customers, tech support, and community support.

My job is incredibly inspiring. Working with women who are not only financially successful but also making big changes in the world and helping so many other people through their work is incredible. I feel privileged to be a part of their mission. I am truly so passionate about supporting my clients and seeing them succeed.

While I love supporting my clients, my goal is to teach and coach others on how to start their own online business as a service provider. The freedom and joy I experience as an entrepreneur are amazing, especially as a mom. It is possible to make good money, working from anywhere, on your terms. I want this life for so many people. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner. But I am here to tell you it’s possible and you don’t need a ton of experience, or a degree, or a specific background to succeed.

I have a digital course coming soon. It covers everything you need to start your own online business, from the services to pricing to finding clients and how to work with them. I love helping people work through problems and see things from a new perspective. I also love helping people strategize new ideas. This is definitely where my passion is now. If you’re interested in my course, make sure you follow me on Instagram or TikTok to stay up to date on the release date! I also offer coaching intensives. I have intensives for beginner business owners, business owners who have started and need some strategy support, and business owners ready to hire a team member and they just don’t know where to start. You can book those on my website!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

This is a great question. Honestly, number one, I would say, is my resourcefulness. You can’t know everything, it’s just the reality of life, and that’s okay. But I know I am capable of figuring it out. The internet is your best friend, and so is ChatGPT. I am confident that if I don’t know how to do something, I can find the answer and figure it out. My clients appreciate that I take the initiative, and they trust me to handle things. They don’t expect me to have all the answers, but they do expect me to put in the effort to find the answer. And I usually do, which builds trust and reliability. If you’re working with a specific platform, most companies have free tutorials and help sections on their websites. You can almost always find walkthroughs on YouTube. Spend time exploring ChatGPT; it has become a powerful tool that my clients use in their business, and so do I.

Number two is that I have a calmness and stability that my clients find very comforting. Since I can remember, I have always been someone whom people come to for advice or when they are stressed. Being a business owner is stressful. When you’re working with clients, they are looking for someone who can help provide stability in their business and relieve some of that stress. I’m great at offering words of encouragement, solutions, and structure. My clients know they can come to me when they are feeling stressed, and I will take the lead to provide relief. If you want to be this person for your clients, get really good at listening. I know that sounds obvious, but we as humans often like to cut people off, or assume we know, or tune people out halfway into the conversation. Most of the time, your clients will happily tell you exactly what they need or want. For the ones who lack in communication, don’t be afraid to ask questions. We aren’t mind readers, get confident in asking questions and gaining clarity. Another big thing is not to feed off of their energy. Remember, they hired you to be part of their solution. They don’t need you to make the problem bigger by feeding into their stressed energy. Focus on being the solution.

I am a sponge ready to learn. In this industry, there is no limit on the education you can have. I am fortunate that I am pretty tech-savvy, and I learn quickly. What helps is that I want to learn. I take any opportunity I can get to learn a new program or task. There are so many different opportunities in the online space, which means even more room for success. The more you can educate yourself, the more of those opportunities you can go after. The more education you have, the more services you can offer, which means you can charge higher rates. Do not let this overwhelm you. Like I said in the beginning, you can’t know it all, but always be open to opportunities to learn. Take the initiative to learn new skills. When I started my business, I took on clients who were paying less than the rate I wanted to charge, but the experience made up for it. It allowed me to learn and grow my skills.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

I listen to my body. Our bodies are really good at telling us when we need a break. I’ve learned that when I am overwhelmed or experiencing burnout, I can’t show up for my clients as my best self. This impacts my work and hurts my business. Also, when I try to ignore being overwhelmed, it tends to snowball, and every little thing feels like the end of the world. This is not productive.

When I am overwhelmed, I make time for rest. One of the perks of being my own boss is that I can work when I want to. While most days I want to be available during working hours for my clients, it’s also okay if I take a day here and there to lighten the load. This may look like me working one evening or a little bit on a Saturday when I am feeling better, and that’s okay. What matters is that I listened to what I needed and took the time to rest and reset. And for me, this usually just looks like stepping away for the day, getting comfy on the couch, and watching a movie. I also prioritize self-care to help minimize overwhelm. For example, I love my morning walks outside. They are a very calming way to start the day. I also love slow mornings. I don’t book any calls before 10 AM, and I take time to enjoy my cup of coffee before I start work for the day. This next thing is very important. I respect my boundaries when it comes to client communication during non-working hours. Meaning, if a client is sending me messages at 6 PM, I do not feel obligated to reply. It’s important to shut work off, which can be difficult when you work from home, and especially when you work for yourself. If you do not set some boundaries for yourself, the overwhelm will be inevitable.
