Meet Cerena Brown

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cerena Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Cerena, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I developed my confidence and self-esteem by doing things that came to me at ease. I’ve always had a creative mindset and spirit. Makeup was a way to express my creativity to the world while being shy. Modeling helped me see the beauty that I always had when it was difficult for me to see on my own.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a Model, Makeup Artist, aspiring Esthetician, and Beauty & Fashion Boss. I am also the proud owner of Melanin Behavior LLC. I am on the journey to become a Homesteader and Certified Herbalist. I am most proud of my journey as an multi-passionate entrepreneur because I have evolved from my past mistakes and lessons. Failure is growth! Not being afraid to try things out and find what really is for you. What is most exciting and special about my brand is my uniqueness and authenticity. I put my heart and soul into this brand because I believe in teaching individuals self-love and confidence.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

MY three best qualities are my resilience, honesty and creativity. My resilience has given me the strength to get through any complications and struggles that life presents. Honesty teaches me to not only be honest with others, but most importantly to be honest with myself. The quality of creativity gives me the ability to show off my great fashion and beauty skills. The best advice I have for others who are in their early journey as an entrepreneur is try whatever is interesting, stay positive, make friends along the way and don’t give up on yourself.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I am feeling overwhelmed or stress, I go for a long walk outside while listening to my music. Exercise is a great way to push through your struggles. Feeling and seeing the sweat can be a symbol of all the worries leaving your body. It’s almost like you are beating down your struggles. I would also suggest sitting in the grass in a some great shade and just listen to the sound of life around you. It lets you know that no matter what complications come, life still goes on. You will be just fine today, tomorrow and more time to come.
