We recently connected with Chad Treadway and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Chad, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome is a daily battle, if I am being honest. I think anyone with any since of humbleness to them deals with it. We look to other experts and think, I’m not as good as they are. Why should someone believe or trust me?
The key thing to remember is that if you have taken the time to educate yourself and put the work into it, you probably know more than 9 out of 10 people.
So here are a few tips to deal with it:
• Leaders are readers: In the last several years, I have become a ferocious reader of non-fiction books. My library runs the gambit of sales and marketing, storytelling, psychology, and brain science to leadership and biographies.
Educate yourself about your industry: Listen to podcasts and watch videos about what others in your industry are doing.
• Share your feelings: Several of my co-workers and I routinely talk about the feeling of imposter syndrome as we all fight it.
• Being a small marketing agency that helps small businesses, we are conscious of the money they spend with us, and we often fall into the trap that we aren’t doing enough for them or we are doing the wrong thing. However, having a conversation with them often proves us wrong, and they sing our praises. Therefore, we celebrate these conversations and share them with our coworkers.
• Let go of thinking everything has to be perfect. Life is messy, and especially when it comes to digital marketing, things move quickly. We have to be ready to pivot and change at a moment’s notice.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three things that have helped me through my career are: 1. I am always curious. While this has gotten me into trouble a few times, it has served me well as I am always looking for ways to improve things for our clients.
2. Always Be Learning. If you aren’t learning something new every day, then you aren’t growing. If you aren’t growing, then you are dead on the vine.
3. You have two ears and one mouth, use them proportionally.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Regarding books that have influenced me, I can’t say there is just one. That being said, here are a few that I suggest based on someone’s field.
