Meet Chamar Kinney

We recently connected with Chamar Kinney and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Chamar with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I get my work ethics from my parents. Growing up both my parents worked so hard.and sometime multiple jobs at some point. It was very inspiring to watch them and to still make time for family.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m the head cook and only cook at Kinney’s Kitchen. This all started as a dream back when I was 18 year’s old. I moved from my hometown (Cleveland OH) to Atlanta Georgia in 2006. When the idea of bringing the south different foods that was originated in OH. Fast forward to 2020. I moved from Atlanta Georgia to Tulsa OK and recognized the same lack of northern style food’s. So in 2022, I started Kinney’s Kitchen LLC. Building a food truck from the ground up. And also being apart of the number one food hall in the U.S. Mother Road Market. Located on Route 66. Have also received an award for being a small black business owner from black wall street. Downtown Tulsa. It is safe to say my dreams are coming true.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

So looking back to the beginning I’ve learned alot from my father who I wish could see me today. He was an entrepreneur as well, and the best advice I can give is don’t give up on yourself. All we ever need in life is to believe we can and we will.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Think and grow rich is a great book to read and not just once. The more I read that book the more I understand how powerful the mind is.
