Meet Chami Saks

We recently connected with Chami Saks and have shared our conversation below.

Chami, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

I drive a lot of my optimism from my faith in G-d. I feel as though I have an unbreakable belief that G-d has a plan for me, my family, my business, and everything. With having that faith, it allows me to know that the ultimate plan is out of my hands. That everything will simply work out in the way that G-d had intended. In addition, I deeply believe that if you have a good attitude, a good vibe, and a positive outlook, that optimism will leak into the rest of your life positively.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I grew up in the Orthodox Jewish community, and when I got married, I began covering my hair with a wig, following our traditions. As I started wearing wigs, I noticed so many gaps in the market, especially in how wigs were being serviced in my community. That’s when I realized I wanted to do something about it. I’ve always had a love for hair, beauty, and business, so I took a leap and opened a small wig salon in my basement. At first, I only serviced wigs, but soon I started selling them, too—brands that I had shipped in. My early clients were all from the Orthodox Jewish community, but in 2019, when I opened my first storefront, something incredible happened.

Women dealing with hair loss, alopecia, and even those going through chemo started coming in. Each of them had their own story, their own relationship with wigs, and it made me realize there was a bigger need—something beyond what I initially set out to do. That’s when the idea for the Lola Wig was born. I named it after my grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, as a tribute to her strength and resilience. This line is made with 100% ethically sourced human hair, and every detail was designed by me, with the client in mind. The wigs are fully customizable—from fit to color and style—and we do it all in-house, making sure every piece is perfect. My goal was always to create a wig so natural that people wouldn’t even realize it’s a wig. And when clients tell me that no one in their lives can tell, it’s the biggest compliment.

In late 2023, we expanded into a larger space, and our clientele grew. I was thrilled to welcome members of the trans community, alongside those I already served. Knowing that the wigs I’ve worked so hard to create are helping people feel more like themselves is everything to me. When someone looks in the mirror and feels beautiful in one of our wigs, it’s the best feeling.

We’ve also expanded beyond wigs—we now offer toppers that clip into existing hair and hat falls, which are worn under hats or scarves. I love that my business is centered around helping people feel good about themselves. It’s also been such a personal journey for me—meeting people from all walks of life has made me more empathetic and understanding. In many ways, this business has helped me just as much as it’s helped my clients.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Over the years, I’ve come to realize that certain qualities have been invaluable in my business. Three that truly stand out are being a good listener, showing empathy, and providing exceptional customer service. In a business as personal as mine, you’re often hearing about people’s hardships and challenges. I’ve learned how important it is to really listen to what clients are sharing, and to respond with empathy and genuine understanding. People can feel when you truly care, and that connection makes all the difference. Pair that with great customer service, and you’ve got a recipe for success.

If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be to take care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and that’s true not only in business but in life. It’s so much easier to grow when you’re not overwhelmed or burning out. Staying aligned with your goals and values is key, but self-care is just as important. I’d also say—be persistent. Success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, patience, and persistence to see real progress. Don’t forget to celebrate the wins, no matter how small, and accept the losses as part of the journey.

And most importantly, love what you do. Passion is the fuel that keeps you going. If you don’t have it, it shows in your work. Without passion, you’re just going through the motions, and your results will reflect that lack of energy and enthusiasm. So, whatever you do, make sure it’s something that lights you up. That’s where true success lies.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am always eager to collaborate with individuals and professionals who could benefit from high-quality wigs, and right now, my focus is on expanding into the film and television industry. The possibilities for incorporating wigs into the world of entertainment are endless. Whether it’s for character transformations, period pieces, or enhancing an actor’s look, wigs play a vital role in creating authentic and memorable on-screen moments. I’m particularly excited about the idea of working closely with department heads, hair stylists, and costume designers on set to bring our wigs into the spotlight of shows and films.

Beyond that, I have a vision of seeing our wigs make their debut on the red carpet. Celebrities frequently wear wigs at high-profile events, from premieres to award shows, and it’s always inspiring to see the creativity involved. I often find myself scanning photos from these events, recognizing when a star is wearing a wig, and imagining how incredible they would look in one of our designs. I’m confident that if these celebrities experienced the comfort, style, and quality of our wigs, they would fall in love with them. It’s not just about enhancing an appearance; it’s about giving people the confidence to fully embrace their unique style, and I’m excited to bring that vision to life in new, creative spaces.
