Meet Chanah Brown

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chanah Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Chanah, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I’ve always had a strong work ethic it’s something that was instilled in me from a young age. I was taught that I can achieve anything I want, as long as I’m willing to put in the effort. That mindset has stayed with me throughout my life and career. I also believe in the power of influence, so I intentionally surround myself with driven, motivated people who inspire me to keep pushing forward and I hope to do the same for others. Nothing meaningful comes without work, and I take pride in showing up, staying consistent, and striving to be the best version of myself.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m an abstract freelance painter with a deep passion for creativity and community. My work is all about emotion, movement, and freedom. I love that I have complete control over my artistic expression, allowing each piece to be a true reflection of my vision. In addition to painting, I stay active in the local art scene by hosting networking events that bring artists together and by teaching art classes for kids, which I find incredibly rewarding. Right now, I’m working on a large triptych project, with each canvas measuring 48×60 inches, and I’m excited to bring it to life and eventually share it with others. While I don’t have any upcoming events at the moment, there’s always something brewing, and I’m looking forward to what’s next.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, some of the most impactful things in my journey as an artist were staying active in the community, staying open to new experiences, and continuously learning. My advice to anyone early in their journey is to attend as many art shows and creative events as possible—not just to be inspired, but to network and become a familiar face within the local art scene. Don’t hesitate to apply for opportunities, even if it’s just volunteering or working with kids—every experience adds value and builds your presence. Also, avoid limiting yourself to just one medium. Exploring different styles and techniques can help you grow and discover your unique voice. Lastly, always do your research. Stay informed about calls for artists, local resources, grants, and the work of other creatives. The more knowledge you have, the more empowered you’ll feel to move forward with confidence.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who values bold, original art that makes a statement. They appreciate the emotion and movement behind abstract work and aren’t afraid of large-scale pieces that command attention. Whether they’re a collector, interior designer, or someone curating a creative space, they trust my artistic vision and seek artwork that transforms their environment. They connect with art on a personal level and are drawn to pieces that evoke feeling, energy, and conversation.
