Meet Chance Quinn

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chance Quinn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Chance, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
I aspire to make them eat their words. I work Great out of spite, a huge chunk of my motivation comes from it. “Oh you don’t think I can do it?!”.. I will show you. Growing up I got told a lot to get a ‘real job’, versus being an artist, I’ve learned to use it as fuel. It still beats me up quite often, hearing mean/negative words, however Im definitely my biggest hater/critic, so most of what I’ve heard I’ve already said to myself. The lames also taught me how to be nicer, and who I don’t want to be. I think most people who are insulting are jealous, if im insulting, its often rooted in jealousy, or a sense of personal failure. As an artist the most hate I get is from other artists… that wish they could. Those that can, are generally nice, and usually interested in my approach, as I theirs, out of a mutual respect, for the art, the process. You can see the discipline it took immediately in art, and I think haters lack that. Discipline. Surround yourself with good people, PERIOD. If someone is negative, let them do it over there. Im being happy and loving life over here, you wanna hate that? Thats ok, I love that.. for you.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Im an Oil Painter and a Tattooer. I suppose a Realist Painter, who enjoys the Surreal, and a Neo-traditional Tattooer. I love working with clients to create the idea that they’ve had for years on end. I like trying to communicate the art and creating a visual collaboration from verbal cues. I love hearing the stories that led to the art, and watching a client relax once they understand that Im actually interested in the idea, and that I don’t think its stupid. My favorite part is watching my art make people smile, as it wasn’t smiling that encouraged me to become an artist, its great to see it come around. I like Painting and Tattooing just about everything, if the price is right, and your nice, Im in. Im currently in a deep state of study, once again, trying to figure out they best way to open my own studio. But if you’re interested in commissioning a painting, you can email me at chancequinnart@gmail.com

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
DISCIPLINE- No question about it, you gotta have discipline. INTEGRITY- You gotta do it when your alone, when you could get away with not studying/working/etc, you have to have the integrity to struggle when only you will know it happened. That’s where the gold is.
LOVE- If you aren’t in love with The Dream/Goal, it’ll be too much work. But if you love it.. you’ll crave it. You’ll do it.

My advice would be, To be honest with yourself and chase YOUR dreams. Not mom and dads, not the haters dreams, not your dead grandmas dreams… not the programmed dreams on the television. YOUR ACTUAL F***ING DREAMS. The things that you can’t pull yourself away from, the things you would do for free… turn it into a business.

No confidence? Discipline and Integrity might help with that… just saying.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
ALWAYS. I AM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR ARTISTS TO WORK WITH AND I AM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW CLIENTS.

I love everything about art. Even simply talking about it. If you’d like to work on a project together or commission some artwork you can email me at chancequinnart@gmail.com, message me on Instagram @chancequinnart or @chancequinnfineart or you can visit my website at www.chancequinnfineart.com
