Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chancellor McCord. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Chancellor, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Purpose for me is a very simple and basic answer; I found my purpose and my internal value in pursuing joy. As a child I never grew up around religion, and now being older there’s just certain parts of it that don’t fit for me. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, on the contrary it brings billions of people comfort and joy. Its great, just not for me. With that though, there is the question of if there is no intrinsic or higher purpose, then what is the point of day to day life? And for a long time I struggled with this, finding it hard to be motivated or set goals. Why juggle school, social life, and so many other things, and still move towards pursuing an artistic career? It wasn’t until I really took a sharp step back from everything that I found that answer. Simply put I enjoy it. From a hedonistic perspective I truly believe that life should be about pursuing what it is you love to do, and about being around those who bring you love and bring you joy. From a Stoic perspective I derive a sense of accomplishment and sincere pleasure from doing hard work. If I am going to continue to wake up everyday, then it is on me to choose who I become and what life I want to build for myself. And if that choice is between continuing to mope around aimlessly or striving with a purpose to build myself as a better human being, then that choice is easy. From trying to graduate college with honors, to working late nights in an ambulance, to flying out to do shoots across the country, I have found a respect for myself and my work ethic that at the end of the night makes me happy about who I am and what it is that I am doing, and to me that is invaluable. With this mindset I am ecstatic about the opportunities I’ll have to learn, and the chances I will have to get to travel and see the world in my modeling career. You choose what it is that you value, choose wisely.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As of right now my only long term plans are to become a Firefighter Paramedic and continue modeling. I am set to graduate from the amazing Paramedic program offered by UNM in about two years time. With that I’ll either pursue joining Albuquerque Fire Rescue or LA Fire, maybe even try and jump out of some planes and take the Hot Shot route. Modeling wise this year I know that I have plans to do LA Fashion week, Shanghai in November, and then Miami come December, but beyond that nothing is really set in stone, i’ll just plan on taking work as it comes. I know that I would like to expand my platform a bit to help me book more than I am currently. I would also like to make more of a transition into some more acting roles as I know that several studious have opened up right here in New Mexico because of it’s better filming rights. But ultimately I love just living my life day to day and seeing where each week ends up taking me, whether it’s doing some fun collabs with some local friends, or hopping on an airplane to another country.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
First and foremost the absolute best advice I can give anyone, and whats helped me more than anything is just being spontaneous. I’ve gone to festivals in Mexico for free because I replied to a random DM, I ended up getting more modeling work because decided to move to LA for two months on a whim, one of my best memories is a solo trip I made up to Pagosa Springs on a random Tuesday simply because I was stressed and needed a break from work. My point is life is full of side quest and opportunities, and I think a lot of the time people will write them off as just crazy ideas. Don’t. Saying yes to foreign circumstances has opened a lot of doors for me and led me to places I never thought I’d be. Go with the flow, take life a day at a time, and don’t hesitate to pull the trigger the next time you see a side quest. Secondly, I’ve always thought that kindness is one of the best virtue to have as a person, and it’s something that I strive to be. Whether it’s mentoring and working with kids, helping someone who’s sick, or just being there to chat in someones time of need. When you emulate the virtues you value, and interact with the world like the person whom you wish to be, it translates to the rest of how you operate in your own life and with others. Being kind is a choice, and your never too tired or burnt to make that choice. I’d recommend working on it with just little gestures in how you talk to your friends, or maybe even try and volunteer somewhere, see how it changes you, because it’s definitely something that I think has made an impact on me. The last key component that has been impactful in my journey so far would have to be work ethic. The world owe’s you nothing, and I don’t expect to be given a handout, or a shortcut to the things that I want. It’s on me to never give up, to put in the hours, and to put myself in positions to succeed. A lot of people can say they want to get in shape, but do they diet and train everyday? Anyone can claim they wan’t to make it and be wealthy, but what are they doing to pursue that, how many hours are they putting towards that? I’m not saying that I’m perfect when it comes to this, I love drinking and doom-scrolling just as much as the next guy. But I will say that when it comes down to it, I got a solid engine in me, and if the why is there then the how is irrelevant.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Always. And as far as specifics go I really don’t have any. If a concept seems cool to me I’d love to do it. Ideas that are different, or something that’s a new experience for me just sounds fun. It can be artsy, high fashion, anything. When I got the time for it I just want to shoot as much as possible, go create, try things. For any interested parties I’d say DM me on insta @cm.916, and if I’m unresponsive there (which I tend to be) I always pick up a phone call @505-264-5934.
