Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chandra Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chandra, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Through my experiences, I discovered my purpose. Life’s challenges have proven to be the most effective learning tool. Overcoming significant health obstacles provided me with a fresh perspective on my well-being and clarified the direction I wanted my life to take. Each experience fostered resilience and confidence, enabling me to transition into a new field of interest. This shift not only enhanced my skills but also opened opportunities for personal and professional growth, ultimately guiding me toward my purpose in integrative medicine.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Finding My Path in Integrative Medicine
As a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), herbalist, and homeopathy student, my journey into integrative medicine has been one of passion, perseverance, and stepping into the unknown. It began on our homestead in western Colorado, where I crafted herbal products from wild-harvested and homegrown herbs for my online herbal apothecary shop. I had been working as an herbalist for 4 years attending local farmers markets and events in the area. This work ignited my fascination with holistic healing and set the foundation for my career.
Eager to deepen my knowledge, I set my sights on studying homeopathy, but the financial demands of schooling posed a challenge. A friend’s suggestion to explore massage therapy opened a new door. I saw it as a practical step—a way to fund my homeopathy education while staying true to my passion for healing. With determination, I applied to both massage therapy and homeopathy programs in the same year. In a moment that felt like fate, I was accepted into both on the same day—a leap of faith into my future.
Nine months later, I graduated from massage therapy school while completing my first year of homeopathy training. Now, nearly two years into my career as a massage therapist, I’m in my second year of homeopathy studies. Massage therapy has not only provided the financial support for my education and family but also become a deeply rewarding career that I love. It has allowed me to connect with clients, promote healing, and grow in ways I never imagined.
This journey required me to step beyond my comfort zone, embracing uncertainty to pursue my purpose. Through experience, I’ve learned that true growth happens when we venture into the unknown, trusting that each step will lead us closer to where we’re meant to be. My path in integrative medicine continues to unfold, blending herbalism, massage therapy, and homeopathy into a fulfilling mission to support others in their healing journeys.
.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My journey to where I am today was sparked by a deep-seated desire for something more—whether it’s a skill or simply an instinct, I’m not sure. Dissatisfied with the status quo, I felt a pull to create a life that was more meaningful for myself, my family, and my community. I knew there was potential for growth that could make a lasting impact.
As the world navigates its own health challenges, my vision for a new approach to wellness feels increasingly vital. This drive, I believe, was fueled by a collective yearning for change—a nudge I chose to follow rather than resist out of fear of failure. Embracing the unknown has been transformative, aligning my path with the world’s evolving needs.
If I could offer advice, it would be this: pursue whatever calls to you, and don’t shy away from the possibility of failure. Even if you stumble, the experience often redirects you toward an even better path. Stay open to change, put in the effort, and trust that the world will meet you halfway, guiding you toward where you’re meant to be. My journey has taught me that true growth comes from boldly stepping into the unknown, ready to evolve with each new opportunity.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Lessons in Independence and Impact
From an early age, my parents instilled in me the values of independence and self-reliance. They encouraged critical thinking, teaching me to question anything that felt misaligned with my instincts. Through observation, I developed a strong work ethic and learned the importance of planning for the future. More than that, they showed me that true responsibility extends beyond oneself to include family, emphasizing the value of being present and engaged in those relationships. These lessons have shaped my path, grounding me in a commitment to personal growth and meaningful connections with those I hold dear.
