Chanelle, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a storyteller. I walked away from a degree in politics and film because I wanted to positively contribute to people’s lives. I started in documentary film but when a friend asked me to capture her wedding, I instantly fell in love with all of the beautifully raw emotions displayed throughout a wedding day. Capturing a wedding day is like meeting a couple inside of their romance movie. I get a glimpse into their lives and I’m honored to creatively capture their connection. Having documented over 200 weddings and almost 2 decades in the wedding industry, I approach every wedding with the knowledge that my photos will become my couples legacy. I put so much of my heart and soul into photography. It’s an honour and a gift to photograph these cherished memories and I do not take that lightly.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Capturing intimate moments of human connection is what makes my heart beat hardest. Wedding photography is like getting to meet a couple inside of a romance movie! And to be apart of that moment is amazing! I have an appreciation and reverance for many of lifes milestones and I think all of our stories are important and worthy of capturing.
After 13 year in Orange County, California I am expanding my business to Edinburgh, Scotland where I met and married the love of my life!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My top 3 wedding photographer qualities are creativity, personability and versatility. Creativity – I’m passionate about bringing a unique artistic vision to every shoot. I don’t just capture moments; I create unforgettable images that stand out and reflect love stories in a completely personalized way. Personability – I believe that a strong connection with my couples is key. My superpower is helping couples feel comfortable, allowing for authentic emotions and candid moments. This personal touch ensures that photos genuinely reflect who they are as a couple. Versatility – I can adapt to various environments, lighting conditions, and styles. Whether shooting indoors at a reception, outdoors in natural light, or in low-light situations, they know how to adjust their techniques and settings to ensure beautiful results. This versatility allows me to handle any situation that arises during a wedding, ensuring that every moment is captured perfectly. These skills come with experience and if you are just starting your wedding photography journey take on every project and don’t be afraid to fail because you will really learn from those moments.
