We recently connected with Charise Beckett and have shared our conversation below.
Charise, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Confidence wasn’t something I picked up in a workshop or a conference room—it was baked into me at home. My mom used to tell me, ‘They don’t make them better than mine,’ and she said it with such conviction that it became my inner soundtrack. That mantra taught me to walk into every room knowing I belonged there before anyone else validated me. Over the years I’ve built on that foundation by staying grounded in my values, choosing opportunities that align with my purpose, and surrounding myself with mentors and peers who amplify my voice. Confidence, for me, has been a mix of legacy and intentionality: I inherited a powerful belief in my own worth and then reinforced it by showing up authentically, setting boundaries, and keeping a squad around me who pushes me to grow

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m the Founder and Principal Consultant of P.O.I.S.E.® Leadership Consulting and the creator of the Queens Behind the Scenes podcast. P.O.I.S.E. isn’t just a program—it’s a full leadership ecosystem designed to help modern leaders thrive under pressure, prioritize wellness, and deliver sustained impact. It integrates a proprietary five-pillar framework (Precision, Optimization, Influence, Strategy, and Endurance), executive and group coaching, retreats, certification, digital tools, and soon a psychometric assessment and book.
What excites me most is watching leaders realize they can be both high-performing and well. The P.O.I.S.E. ecosystem gives them the language, tools, and community to actually live that out, not just talk about it.
On the media side, my Queens Behind the Scenes podcast and digital community amplify this work by creating space for ambitious women to have honest, behind-the-curtain conversations about leadership, lifestyle, and legacy. This season we’re expanding with new guests, limited-series episodes, and interactive content that meets women where they are—career, entrepreneurship, or the soft-life lane.
Right now I’m especially excited about the upcoming launch of my book on the P.O.I.S.E. leadership model and the psychometric assessment that measures and strengthens leadership resilience. Together with our coaching, retreats, and media, it forms a complete ecosystem for leaders who want power with balance.
At the core, my brand is about giving people permission and practical tools to lead differently—showing up as whole humans, not just titles.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three things that shaped my journey most weren’t degrees or job titles — they were inner muscles I kept strengthening.
First, self-trust. Before any big role or opportunity, I learned to listen to my own instincts and anchor in my values. That’s what my mom’s mantra gave me: an unshakeable sense of ‘I belong here.’
Second, strategic influence. Not just working hard, but understanding how to move ideas, build alliances, and make impact visible. That’s what turns good work into lasting change.
Third, endurance with grace. Leadership is a long game. Being able to sustain your energy, pivot when needed, and set boundaries has kept me both effective and well.
For anyone at the beginning of their journey, my advice is:
Start with self-awareness. Know what you stand for and what you need to thrive.
Build your squad. Seek mentors, peers, and communities that will amplify your voice and tell you the truth.
Invest in your resilience. Leadership isn’t about burning out to prove yourself; it’s about building practices that let you show up as your best self over time.
Those three things — self-trust, influence, and endurance — have been my compass, and they’re the foundation of everything I now teach through the P.O.I.S.E. ecosystem.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely. P.O.I.S.E.™ was built to be an ecosystem, and ecosystems thrive through collaboration. I’m especially interested in partnering with:
Organizations who want to bring the P.O.I.S.E.™ framework, assessment, or coaching programs to their leaders and teams.
Media and event partners who share my mission of elevating women’s leadership and redefining what high performance looks like.
Researchers, app developers, and learning designers who can help expand the digital and data side of the P.O.I.S.E.™ experience.
If you’re aligned with that mission — creating spaces where leaders can be both powerful and well — I’d love to hear from you.
