Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charise Beckett. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Charise, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
My confidence was born in a small West Virginia home where my mom would look at her children and say, “They don’t make them no better than mine.” She said it so often that it became part of our DNA. It wasn’t arrogance — it was affirmation. It taught me early that worth isn’t granted by the world; it’s inherited from love, belief, and belonging.
That foundation carried me through boardrooms, grief, leadership, and entrepreneurship. When I created P.O.I.S.E., I realized that confidence isn’t about never doubting yourself — it’s about remembering what’s already true about you, even when the world forgets. My mom’s words built that truth in me, and now I try to build it in others.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I wear a few crowns — and every one of them connects back to purpose. I’m the Founder and Principal Consultant of P.O.I.S.E.® Leadership Consulting, a holistic ecosystem designed to help leaders trade burnout for balance and lead with precision, influence, and endurance. Through the P.O.I.S.E.® Framework, I teach executives and teams how to align wellness with performance — because success shouldn’t cost your peace.
What’s most exciting for me right now is seeing how this work is expanding beyond the boardroom. The P.O.I.S.E.® Eco-System now includes coaching, corporate consulting, a psychometric assessment, and a forthcoming book titled P.O.I.S.E.: The Blueprint for Escaping Burnout, Redefining Success, and Creating Your New Reality.
And because I believe leadership and storytelling are deeply connected, I also host Queens Behind the Scenes, a podcast and media platform that celebrates women redefining success on their own terms. It’s a space where transparency meets transformation — where we talk about the real work behind the highlight reels.
Ultimately, my mission is simple: to help people and organizations lead well, live well, and leave a legacy that feels as good as it looks.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that shaped my journey most were resilience, precision, and self-trust.
Resilience taught me to rise even when the circumstances weren’t fair — to rebuild, reframe, and keep my crown steady through grief, bias, and burnout. It’s not about never breaking; it’s about never staying broken.
Precision reminded me that clarity is power. Once I learned to get clear on what I wanted — not just what I was good at — everything shifted. I stopped chasing perfection and started pursuing purpose.
And self-trust is the quiet confidence that anchors everything. It’s knowing that even when the path feels uncertain, you’ve been equipped for it.
My advice for anyone early in their journey is simple:
Resilience comes from reflection, not resistance — learn from every hard thing.
Precision grows with practice — get specific about who you are and what you stand for.
And self-trust builds through small wins — keep the promises you make to yourself.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth this past year has been patience — with myself, my timing, and the process. I’ve always been wired to move fast, to build, to make things happen. But I’ve learned that forcing what’s not ready can rob you of what’s meant for you.
The other lesson has been realizing that rest sparks creativity. The more I slowed down, the more ideas started to flow. Some of my best concepts for P.O.I.S.E. and Queens Behind the Scenes came during moments of stillness — not strategy.
I used to think rest was the opposite of productivity, but now I see it as the foundation of it. When I give myself permission to pause, I make room for clarity, inspiration, and alignment. And that’s changed everything — in business, leadership, and life.
