Meet Charity Snider

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charity Snider. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Charity, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
They say “comparison is the stealer of joy”…and as cliche as that statement is, it’s true! I had to stop comparing myself and my journey to others. You never know the silent “L’s” someone else has taken or all the obstacles they’ve endured before achieving they’re “overnight success.”

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
In 2021, I embarked on a journey to create a brand that would redefine luxury and relaxation for every woman seeking moments of indulgence and tranquility in their busy lives. The Good Life Candle Co. was built on the belief that true luxury should be accessible and everyone should experience moments and products that exemplify- “the good Life”

We’ve been able to provide a quality product that does just that to customers all over the country. We are a black-owned, woman-owned company and we operate with the highest sense of integrity for our products and our customers. Each one of our scents was inspired by something personal, be it, familial ties, places we’ve traveled or simply something we’ve seen. Art is everywhere, it’s our job to be inspired by it.

I have been in the retail management industry for over 20 years and layer in that knowledge into my business whenever possible. I also has a passion for helping others and utilizes The Good Life Candle Co. as a catalyst to do so. It may be donating candles to a local charity for gifts at a fundraiser or partnering with a non profit organization to use the candles themselves to gain revenue. Anyway it comes, I am always looking for ways to uplift community.

The Good Life Candle Co., started as a project to serve as a distraction for the me when I lost the father that raised me. It has slowly grown into a small business that he would be proud of.

We’ve made some interesting partnerships in the last 6 months, the most exciting one being with Takeover Sneakerheads and launching our sneaker candle!

What’s next? Our masculine candles do incredibly well so we are planning to expand more into products that allow us to lean into that…stay tuned!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I would say 3 things that have impacted my journey would be: Product (quality) Obsession, Community and Building a Team. When I speak in terms of product obsession, I mean making sure your product is truly the best you can make it. I made test products for almost a year prior to actually launching products to sell and even then, the formulas and processes have been tweaked. Community is everything! Being able to do markets and pop up shops have made me love this business even more, developing a following of people who love what I do and the products that I create is a feeling that is unmatched! Finally, building a team, my advice, do it and do it NOW! It is soooo worth it.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Let’s talk parentals! The most impactful thing my mom did for me was instilled in me that I can do anything! Not only is she my number 1 cheerleader, but growing up she was the blueprint, if something needed to be done, she did it! Some things within reason, some not so much, lol. We may or may not have tried tuckpointing before. She’s THAT girl! The most impactful thing I got from my dads, yes, I had 2! Daddy Wilson always said “you should know something about everything and everything about something!” I’ve always been quite literal with that phrase, but to me it means, never stop being a student, always be open to learn new things, and be really good at a few! And lastly, Daddy Snider instilled family first. I think that’s why there are so many references to my family threaded into my business!
