Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charlene/aka Crone Wolf. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Charlene/aka Crone Wolf, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience is based on my inner process of becoming a more conscious person. As a Facilitator to Consciousness Raising for 27 year, before I began my Wolf Dog Rescue/Shelter, I realized years ago that none of it matters if I do not look into myself very deeply and bring my own shadow up into the light, engaging with my own work first and foremost. This process enables me to release the things that do not matter and to embrace those that are a priority in my life that consistently move me forward in my day today life. This process also helps me to maintain a sense of internal integrity and to do my very best to live in congruence with that every moment of every day and believe me, I do realize when I am not doing so because nothing in my life works right and I have very little if any resilience
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
After spending 25 years as a Facilitator to Consciousness Raising, and traveling quite a bit, I decided to settle in on a beautiful 41 acre pinion covered property six and a half miles up in a beautiful Canyon in Southern Colorado.
I had noticed in my many travels that so many dogs were out in the elements neglected, hungry, and often severely underweight, chained and abused. I began to realize that frequently, the majority of them were Wolf Dogs and their dire conditions along with the pain and hopelessness in their eyes broke my heart. I became resolved to do what I could to rescue them from their pitiful conditions. So many individuals think it would be a great idea to get a cute fluffy little Wolf Dog but do not consider what that animal will be once it grows up and that often it’s wild can still come, and dominate from time to time. This is not to discredit or diminish those with experience who absolutely know what they are doing and understand the character of these beautiful animals. If one does not understand the character and nature of these animals the situation can become out of hand and sad all too soon. For example, our beautiful Kali had been on a chain for so long and it had never been enlarged around her neck. Her throat was barely open enough to swallow, she was covered in her own waste and I could see her ribs through her double coat. Smoke Dancer and Mystic were kept in a small apartment and beaten for destroying the couch, carpet and DVDS. The people who acquired them had lied and said they had property on which they could run and appropriate containment. Every animal receives a new name upon arriving here to separate them from their previous trauma.
At this time we are in process of becoming a nonprofit organization with a focus on education and expansion on to our 41 acres so that they have an even larger space than the large space they already have to run and exercise. We invite people to stop by and visit to interact with the animals and there are some that are even ready to be adopted out at this time that have been worked with and are halter trained. We require that if someone would like to adopt a Wolf Dog they invest in the time to come back a few times so that the animal learns their human character and nature and feels comfortable leaving with them eventually. It is so important that the character and nature of animal and person mesh and are compatible before any animal is permanently placed and allowed to leave. When pregnant females were previously rescued we sought out Veterans and People with Disabilities to place the pups. We helped train them and there was never a charge for this service. There are no adoption fees and -yes- we are licensed through PACFA with the State of Colorado.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I feel as though this entire journey from cradle to now has been in preparation for where I stand. I remember when I was 8 years old asking my mother and father for a panther and a tiger for christmas and was greatly disappointed when they presented me with a stuffed tiger and a stuffed panther. Needless to say I was not a happy camper at that point.
The greatest impact as to where I stand today has been, and continues to be, my journey home to deep within myself where I have come to understand myself as a Being of Consciousness. And even though I had delved deep into these mysteries and feel I have come home to myself in my identity as a Being of Consciousness I can still find dust in the corners and things hiding out in the shadows that still ask my attention. I’ve come to understand it is a process not an event and one that I will be involved in my entire time here and I relish and embrace this process of discovery.
I have been privileged to work with mentors of great depth and awareness over the course of my journey. Julia Spurlock was a great inspiration to me when I was about 30 years old and taught me many modalities that opened and revealed to me that I am the mystery I am seeking to realize. Reverend Pierre Gallardo a Sufi Master and Unity Minister supported me so very much in mirroring to me my worth and value as who I am in my own identity with no need whatsoever to seek outside of myself for validation from others. Grandmother Bessie BeGay of the Dine patiently revealed that I was a secret rage-aholic who had never had an opportunity to be angry or speak my own mind and voice growing up. She pushed every necessary button until I finally lost it in front of her to the degree where I became so exhausted afterwards all I could do was fall to the ground and cry in revelation. At this point she looked at me smiled gave me a big hug and said, “Good, now I can more deeply work with you because this is the most honest you have been with me since we have met.” So much became evident and opened up for me at that point. Rolling Thunder showed me where my own power dwelt deep within me forgotten and suppressed over having been denied for my entire life and that I did not need to look outside of myself to someone seemingly more powerfull to project my own power on to. When living in Mexico in the late 1990s I had the opportunity to travel into Guatemala and learn from the Maya living there. This was a journey unike any I could ever have imagined. All my preconceived ideas of what I thought it was supposed to look like were abolished very quickly as I traversed deeper and deeper dimensions within myself. This brought me to a deep interest in Physics and when I returned from Central America I discovered the Resonance Foundation and Academy developed by Physicist Nassim Haramein and became one of their first graduates of the Delegate Course.
During this time I thought I needed a really spiffy new age name to reflect everything that I was moving through so I used the name Iluminara received during meditation and others began calling me Nara. I decided to return to my original name and frequency of vibration a few years ago.
I am about to finish my first book, The Dance of Light and Shadow, which I intend to complete in audio format. I have also previously co-produced 4 CDs of a meditational nature and in my capacity as a Medicine Woman, create Medicine Pieces specifically for those individuals requesting them based on what they feel they need support with at this time in their life.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The 2 greatest challenges that I have with Crone Wolf Medicine Wolf Dog Rescue and Shelter at this time are finding good help and financing the venture. Dorothy, My best friend of 30 years who joined me in the venture in 2020, passed away from Covid related pneumonia in 2022. She was an amazing friend and a great help and influence and I miss her huge heart and loud laughter. Although I do have two awesome Volunteers 3 days a week in Gabrielle and Lou. I am stilll here alone 4 days a week. It is good exercise and I get plenty of Wolfer love but winter can be extremely difficult high up in a Canyon. The Wolf dogs love it but I do not have their double Fur Coats so I need to head out there in my one piece double insulated outfit and my heavy duty snow boots because we can get up 2-3 feet of snow overnight.
I am hoping that becoming non-profit will ease some of the financial burden but even this is a process not an event and an expense taking far too much time. Right now I am trying to find a Pro Bono lawyer to donate some time to work with us as it isn’t my area of expertise. Unfortunately the workload here and all the responsibility often hinders my ability to get out and do the marketing that is necessary and find the people relevant to helping us through the processes that are necessary to consider and accomplish at this time which are so very important for us to continue to move forward. However it is all coming together as it should and we continue to move forward steadily. Upward and onward!
