We recently connected with Charlotte Robinson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Charlotte , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I belive that hard work, dedication and drive create a great work ethic. Watching my father work day in & day out no matter the circumstances or season taught me the importance of a strong work ethic. He always showed me how to work hard for your family & yourself. Success is not overnight, but created from consistent choices to remain dedicated to a strong work ethic.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have worked in humanitarian services the majority of my life as I’m truly passionate about people. I enjoy encouraging others and reminding them who they are! Beauty is more than skin deep and the essence of who we are makes us shine! With my passion of loving people, I also love the Lord. He has placed people in my life the last few years that have had allergies & sensitivities. Several friends could not enjoy self-care through skincare or bodycare routines because of this problem. This moved me to start my own naturally handcrafted skincare and bodycare line, Sweet’s Springs. My business has both scentful skincare and hypoallergenic options so everyone can enjoy great self-care. We started with sugar & salt scrubs, but have grown so much in 2 years. I’m proud to say that we have several options besides scrubs to include cleansers, serums, salts, oils & now even hand soap!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Education, resilience and the ability to build relationships had always been important as I’ve embarked on this journey. I’m constantly researching new ways to do things, how to obtain the best benefits for my consumers & how to accomplish the administrative side of the business efficiently. There are times when I need to reformulate, restructure or revise. There is no such thing as failure, but steps closer to success. Resilience gives me the push on days when things get difficult. The other factor I remember is that I’m not the smartest person in the room. Cleaning from other’s wisdom, knowledge and experience is important. Relationships have also allowed networking and growth I wouldn’t obtain on my own. Take time to sit with those that are fellow entrepreneurs and collaborate. It can make a beautiful difference.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I am very blessed to have met my friend Amy while building my business. She is a fellow creature of natural skincare where she has specialties with tinctures, salves and other bodycare items. I have been able to collaborate, research and glean off her knowledge & experience. She has also learned from my hard won research. We work well together to help each other grow our businesses to their full potentials! We encourage, educate & help one another evolve our business in every aspect. How we create, market & network is our focus while still investing in building our personal relationships. She has been such a blessing to my business & my family!
