Meet Charlynne Boddie

We were lucky to catch up with Charlynne Boddie recently and have shared our conversation below.

Charlynne, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I discovered my purpose when I was about 11 years old, while doing my morning devotional reading in the Bible. In Matthew 25: 14-30, I read about the Parable of the Talents and the words jumped off of the page to me. It dawned on me at that tender age that God has a purpose for all of us and it is wrapped up in the ‘talents’ each of us has been created with. I sincerely believe that no one is junk. Each of us has a God-given purpose that is built into every fiber of our beings. What I discovered in that Bible reading was then confirmed for me later at school that same week. The eldest nun in the Catholic school I attended asked me to come to see her in her room in the convent. Her name was Sister Mary Charles. She told me that she wanted to help cultivate the gift of speech that I had and she told me that it was definitely a God-given gift of mine. Well, that began a weekly visit to her rooms, where she began to coach me as a speaker. As a result of her working with me, I went on to win the statewide speech competition, against 800 other students. That win gave me confidence and inspired me to seek out a career in communications and journalism as I matured.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a minister and life coach for people in and outside of the Church world, with experience working in all seven spheres of societal influence: religion, government, media, arts and entertainment, business, education and family. I love writing books about my experiences around the globe in helping people, young and old, discover their purpose and live out what I call is their Xtreme Dream. I have learned how to apply the wisdom of God’s Word/The Bible for any situation in life. That wisdom is what brought me to several White House assignments for various US Presidents and then propelled me into a career hosting my own film review TV show in Hollywood. My media successes prompted me to create a life coaching program to then help others around the globe reach their highest potential by living out their dreams.

I have three books out on Amazon, Kindle and Audible formats (True Grid, No Appointments Necessary and God Still Speaks) and am currently working on finishing my London Travel Guide which showcases the hidden gems of the great city of London from my perspective because I lived in the UK for almost 20 years and just moved my base of operation back to the States in 2023.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I have a prophetic gift or edge that allows me to hear God’s voice as a lifestyle and teach others how to do the same.
I think out-of-the-box in unusual and creative ways when chaos or crisis hits.
I am a Master Networker and magnet for knowing how to connect people for very specific goals and assignments that creates a win/win situation for all involved.

Learning how to be in tune with yourself is key and I highly recommend getting into the habit of journaling and learning how to be still to listen on a weekly, if not daily basis. Learning how to be an excellent listener and retainer of what you hear will open doors that no one can shut in your journey to being all you can be. Gaining great mentors in your chosen field of expertise is also a MUST. While my faith in Jesus Christ is my strongest source of mentoring, I also have been blessed with amazing male and female mentors who shared their best selves with me. Take the time to get Mentors Who Operate With Excellence. The knowledge and wisdom you’ll gain from them will be worth more than money in the bank.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

The Bible is the book that has had the largest impact on my life and development as a human being. The wisdom it gives has many layers to it and when acted upon will change your life, professional work and personal life., There is just SO much wisdom and sound advice in it. For instance, the entire Book of Proverbs in the Bible is nothing but wise advice.
Proverbs 18 verse 16 says that the use of your gifts will open doors for you and bring you to people of influence.
Proverbs 11 verse 14 says that where there is no counsel, you will fail and that there is safety in a multitude of counselors.
Proverbs 11 verse 25 says that those who give will prosper and that those who help others will be helped themselves.
Proverbs 22 verse 29 says that when we excel in our gifts, we will stand before influential people and those who are famous.
This is but a tiny portion of the wisdom to be found in this one book in the Bible and yet I have learned from a very young age and daily that there is nothing but gold in its pages. Though it was written thousands of years ago, it is just as relevant for today. World leaders have sought me for its advice as well as actors and pop stars.
