We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Charmain Taylor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Charmain, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I developed my positive outlook by starting my mornings by listening to positive affirmations, journal at least 3 things that I am grateful for as well as before bed. While I am sleeping, I have positive affirmations playing to reinforce a positive outlook first thing in the morning.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Within my prior position, I worked with a non-profit organization. I chose this particular organization as it was in complete alignment with my personal value system. Ensuring that heart-lead business’ have the proper business backing and expertise needed when a crisis arises.
What makes this role so special is that we are typically the first point of contact once a situation arises and ensure them that we are there to assist with their needs.
I am presently assisting my family with their heart lead business but am delving more into the creative side of the family business.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities/skills and area of knowledge that are most impactful are emotional intelligence, a head for business and willingness to learn new skills.
My advise would be to ensure that you never stop learning but be sure to have FUN while doing it. Make sure that you step out of your comfort zone as often as you can.
Always remember that fear is an illusion.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing that my parents did for me was to give me extreme words of wisdom, cultivated a space for learning and lead by example.
