Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charmeka Augustine. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Charmeka, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
A lot of my generosity comes from my late grandfather and my amazing dad. They instilled great morals and ethics how to treat others how you want to be treated. Growing up in the church and having a strong Christian based values really made me see how grateful I am and showed me how to give from the heart. No matter the situation, show love and show care. It might be an angel.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
From an assistant to a single mother to now the owner & top stylist in Houston now 20 years, this is only the beginning. Fused Hair & Extensions has been my brand for the past 10 years now and it’s only growing day by day. From relaxers to long colorful extensions to beautiful blowouts, the work is epic. Having touched celebs like Cynthia Bailey, Malorie Bailey, LaTavia Roberson, and Erica Mena has only pushed my career to higher heights. Being apart of Fashion Week 3 years strong with the iconic Joshua Omar Johnson, really made me find out what force I hold and can show to the world.
Rated top 5 salons in Houston via online and now thrusting to more of my upper everyday corporate clientele of high real estate realtors, attorneys, doctors, and more, God is blessing me day to day for more greatness. It’s late nights and early
Mornings but I would not have prayed for anything more. The growth is amazing and I’m enjoying each and every experience and making my growing hands something each client will remember.
Now having started a new organic hair growth oil that’s growing hair within a month and showing off my own technique of the Microlink & I-Tip method to adding length and fullness to medium and thin hair.
Being one of many salons here in Houston, I think mine is more set to cater to clients dealing with thinning, balding, alopecia, traction alopecia, and remission cancer patients. I believe this is what mainly sets me apart from other stylists. I believe this is my purpose. To offer confidence and strength again. I offer custom wig services, different weaving techniques, and the strengthening of natural hair. I also offer an original custom hair growth oil that has began growing all clients hair of all colors and textures as well. I want to
patent my oil so it can become a household name and help a lot of people. Our world is missing the authenticity to what can make us better, so making this oil from scratch, is what I think this world is missing. This is a brand I continue to build and am truly proud of over these past 20 years.
I recently became certified to sell Medical grade wigs to all cancer, alopecia, burn and trauma survivors as well as our veterans to help more and more of our community
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Business, saving, and adding more to my craft Always be open to things you don’t have much knowledge i but what to broaden into being better. We always focus on the things that we are a 10 in and never on the things that make us a 5. As you go more into your journey, be open. Be available. Always network.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I’m open to more meditation. Especially during times where now mental health is so important nowadays. I mostly focus on inspirational books and continue to surround myself with very positive people as well.
I do daily devotions and affirmations before my day starts. Prayer and meditation keeps me grounded and open to what more God has to offer
