Meet Charmyra E. Fleming

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charmyra E. Fleming. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Charmyra E. , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
In my youth, I began journaling about my day. I started out writing poetry, and the first time I read the power that came from my words, I knew I’d fallen in love with writing. When I saw the reactions of my family and friends to my writing, I knew that I’d found my purpose in life. Writing has always been a part of me, and makes me feel free and alive. It is my God given talent and when I figured out it was my purpose, I decided to share my gift with the world. In 2018, after I wrote my first romance novel my readers confirmed that I was meant to be a writer with their positive reviews and feedback of my book, and 5 years later with three books under my belt they’re still praising me for my work. So, I know that I’m meant to do this. I love to write material that moves my readers. I want to touch them to the core, challenge them to consider a different perspective, and open their eyes something they may have not considered before. This is why M.A.I. writing M.OTIVATE | A.SPIRE | I.NSPIRE my readers and beyond to also live with purpose, intention, and full of passion!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the owner and operator of Creative Calfuray, LLC, a haven and an extension of my creativity. It provides an outlet to pursue my creative interests whether it is first and foremost, through my writing, motivational blogging, merchandising, graphic design, makeup artistry, writing workshops, and more. It is the objective of this company to motivate at least one person to aspire to their greatness, and inspire many along the way. The mission of Creative Calfuray is to always M.OTIVATE | A.SPIRE | I.NSPIRE my readers and beyond to always live their lives with purpose, intention, and full of passion. I’ve written three books, “The Violet Rose,” “Three’s a Charm,” “Perfect Chemistry,” and my fourth book is slated to be released later this year. I have my own “M.A.I.” Branded Merchandise, and I also have a podcast called, “The Purple Charm Experience,” where I discuss my journey and experience as a self-published author. On my podcast, I also have other guest authors to come on a discuss their journey and experiences, The podcast will start its fourth season in July.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most important skills to have is communication (written and verbal) active listening, and the willingness to be an engaged lifelong learner. With the emergence of AI tools such as, ChatGPT and others, it’s important to be able to maintain our own voices because, that’s where our humanity lies. I’m not a fan of these new AI technologies used for writing, but I’m open to understanding it’s potential uses, but I’ll hold on to writing for myself because, knowing how to communicate verbally and written effectively is still needed and necessary. Honing the skill of active-listening has allowed me to work with clients and execute on their requirements the first time. The skills of communication and active-listening goes hand in hand. Finally, engaging in continuous learning is important for anyone who wants to push past complacency. We all grow older but if we’re not continuously learning, we become complacent, and don’t push ourselves to elevate ourselves and our consciousness.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The number one obstacle I am currently facing is selling enough of my books to become a bestselling author. It may seem silly, but as a self-published author this is a goal that I don’t think that I realized how difficult it is to achieve when I was starting out. It is difficult work, but I’m taking it back to the basics. I’m adding new offerings, working on releasing a new book, updating my marketing strategy and plan. This time around I’m going for the gold, and I’m working hard to finally reach the level of Bestselling Author!
