Meet Chas Stickney

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chas Stickney a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Chas, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

Optimism has usually been a very normal feeling for me. I think it’s so strong most of the time, because, I have faced a lot of amazing moments that made me realize life can be full of excitement and joy if you just allow it and think that way! Like everyone else, I’ve dealt with a lot of disappointment as well. Disappointment that was self inflicted as well as others disappointing me.
I realized early on that “what you think about, you bring about”. That phrase has always resonated with me and I believe in it wholeheartedly.
I believe in allowing yourself to feel every emotion as the come and go. The important part is to allow myself to give my feelings and emotions their moment. Then I let them go and move on.
Life is more fun being optimistic!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am IN LOVE with my career as a hair stylist!! I love letting my artistic side run free! I’m such a people person too so I love getting to talk to my amazing clients about anything and everything and while creating my art with them!

I specialize in color! I love formulating a personalized formula for each and every client. Hair treatments are a major part of how I keep my clients hair looking healthy and beautiful all year!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Keep learning! You’ll never know it all so always be open to learn new things!

Be confident! Everyone starts out in the beginning. Speed and skills improve with repetition!

Find out what you love doing the most and do more of it!! You’re clients with be happier and so will you!

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

Breath work and working out are my secret weapons for stress. I have a fantastic fitness coach, Jake Russell, here in LA. He has already taught me so much!! And he works remotely too so he’s available for anyone looking to step up their health game!! @jakeshisname on instagram!
