Chaunise, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from knowing that success is built on discipline, reliability, and attention to detail. Event design requires long hours, flexibility, and problem-solving under pressure, and I’ve developed the habit of staying focused, proactive, and solutions-oriented no matter the circumstances. I absolutely love turning a blank canvas into something amazing and it is even more fulfilling to have made a career out of it.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Since I was a young child, I’ve always had a natural passion for décor and design. I grew up watching my mother, Cynthia, take great pride in creating beautiful spaces. She successfully built a profitable home interior business, and witnessing her dedication, creativity, and discipline left a lasting impression on me. Through her example, I learned the importance of following your dreams, working with intention, and always putting your best foot forward—values that continue to guide me today.
Inspired by that foundation, The Royal Event Company was born in 2015 when I stepped out on faith and turned my passion into purpose. At the time, I had no idea what the journey would fully entail, but I was driven by creativity, determination, and a desire to create unforgettable experiences. As we approach our 11th year in business, the growth has been nothing short of rewarding. Our clients have become family, and the joy that comes from bringing visions to life never fades.
Beyond designing extraordinary events, we’ve also been honored to give back by teaching and empowering upcoming designers through hands-on classes. We take pride in mentoring both emerging and seasoned designers who are seeking elevation, refinement, and growth within the industry. Being able to inspire others while continuing to evolve creatively is one of the most fulfilling aspects of our work.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Resilience helped me push through challenges, long hours, and uncertainty, especially in the early years.
Advice: Don’t let setbacks stop you—learn from them and keep moving forward.

Attention to detail set my work apart and helped build trust with clients.
Advice: Create systems and habits that keep you organized and consistent—details matter.

Continuous learning allowed me to grow, evolve, and stay relevant in the industry.
Advice: Invest in education, seek mentorship, and always look for ways to elevate your craft.

Overall, Step out on faith, stay consistent, and trust the process—growth comes with time and dedication.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

The person who has been most helpful in helping me overcome challenges and develop the skills needed to be successful has been my fiancée Xavier. He has truly been the backbone of my growth and elevation in business. From the beginning, he believed in my vision even during moments when I doubted myself. His unwavering support, encouragement, and honesty pushed me to think bigger, work smarter, and remain disciplined.

He has been a constant source of strength—offering perspective during difficult decisions, helping me stay focused during demanding seasons, and reminding me of my purpose when the pressure felt heavy. Beyond emotional support, he has played a key role in helping me strengthen my confidence, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Having someone who supports your dreams, challenges you to improve, and stands beside you through every phase of growth has made all the difference in my journey.
