Meet Chazz Gary

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chazz Gary. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Chazz, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

To quote the great Kobe Bryant, “confidence comes from preparation… I’m not asking myself to do anything that i haven’t done a thousand times before.” I think my confidence comes from constant creation. If you do something enough times, you eventually figure it out. I am constantly creating and challenging myself. I have been for a long time now (11+ years), so although i know there is so much more to learn, there is a level of understanding of the craft that I’ve developed throughout the years. Im a huge basketball fan and often times compare it to my own art. The greatest players are all guys that loved the game so much that they obsessed over the work.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m an LA based recording artist, producer and engineer from Richmond, Virginia and founder and CEO of Top Floor Production Studios. I’m a highly creative and proficient recording artist, audio producer, DJ and engineer who puts my own unique spin on the way I create music and bring sound to life. Since the release of my first EP “Still Solo” I’ve been featured in Respect Magazine, 4sho Magazine, Blades and Bars Magazine, NOVA Music Blog, and other media outlets and I’ve performed during DC Funk Parade and SXSW. I dropped a euphoric R&B record called EMBRACE in June of 2024.and am working on a Hip Hop EP that I’ve been teasing for a while, set to release early 2025 so stay tuned!

Top Floor Studios LLC is a media production company that specializes in recording, mixing, and mastering services. We are also moving into animation and will be offering animated music videos very soon!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Integrity: I think this is one of the most important attributes for an artist to have and nurture. Commercial music has become so formulaic now so it is easy to just replicate a popular sound. But remember all of the greats had their own sound. I think being able to be inspired by and take from other artist while not trying to sound like them, but to improve/find my own sound has been extremely beneficial. My advice to other artist on this matter would be to stay true to yourself and make what YOU like, not what the industry tells you to make.

Ear: My ear has also has a huge impact on my journey. I’ve studied music theory and have been singing, playing instruments and as a result, training my ear for as long as i can remember. Having that knowledge helps me to create good music easier and also helps me to create new sounds. Since i have an understanding of the rules, i can intentionally break them.

Love: I will be making music till the day i die whether I reach Michael Jackson stardom or end up just making songs for myself and my close circle in my garage. I am in love with music, it is a part of me so i am able to withstand all of the ups and downs that come with being an independent artist. Some people are in it for money, lifestyles etc, but i feel that if you stay true to the art, everything else will fall into place.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

My number one obstacle right now would be creating a quality collective/team who all have the same goal in mind. It has been an ongoing obstacle for me, but i am working hard to recruit quality team members and also put enough quality content out to where potential team members reach out to me!
