Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chelsea Dygert. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chelsea, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I get it from my mama.
…no, but really. She has always been the most beautiful example of grace through trial. Everything she has been through could have made her bitter but she just keeps pushing onward and chooses to meet everyone with compassion and love. I really have the ultimate resilience roll model in her.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’ve been hosting adventure retreats for a few years now and I fall more in love with it each time. As an enneagram 4, uniqueness is a treasured quality of mine and I try to reflect that in my work. I like to find niche locations within niche locations, giving my attendees a one of a kind experience that allows them to see the most special parts of the most special places and to do it all alongside likeminded people.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1) Creativity. Thinking outside the box is always a good idea.
2) The willingness to let go of what you think it should look like. Too often we get in our own way. We try to connect all the dots and force things into place instead of waiting for inspiration.
3) The courage to “do it scared”. Being afraid to fail shouldn’t be the reason you don’t try at all. Be scared. Be worried. And then do it anyway.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My husband, Keith. Hands down. As a creative, the administrative side of things is not my strong suit and numbers are not my friends. I do the daydreaming and he anchors me down by verifying my budget and keeping everything organized. You should see this man and his spreadsheets (swoon).
