Meet Chelsea Porter

We recently connected with Chelsea Porter and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsea , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic came from my upbringing. I was raised to always give my best and that failure is not an option. You may not get it the first time, but you learn from the process and get better each and every time. Entrepreneurship is a lot of research along with trial and error. You have to learn what works for you. Every business and target audience is not the same.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a licensed esthetician and esthetics instructor. As well as a MUD and Airbrush certified makeup artist. My passion is everything beauty. When you look good, you feel good. My purpose is to help my tribe define their definition of beauty through my services, products, and soon classes.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three areas of knowledge that were most impactful so far during my journey are legal, marketing, and professionalism.

Legal because you have make sure that your business is legitimate. You have to have an EIN, file taxes, and keep receipts.

Marketing because every target audience is different and what works for someone else business may not work for yours and vice versa.

Professionalism because I have seen it too many times where business owners are bashed online for how they respond to consumers. You have to remain professional even when the client doesn’t.

My advice would be to find a mentor and take classes. Always be willing to learn.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is one who is willing to learn to properly take care of their skin through products and services. Someone who wants to enhance their features with makeup. Someone who wants to see the beauty in traveling the world. My ideal client is open-minded and trust me as a professional to listen to them and vice versa.
