We recently connected with Chelsea Sanders and have shared our conversation below.
Chelsea, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Finding my purpose has been a journey intertwined with my innate passions and experiences. From an early age, I’ve been drawn to working with children, driven by a profound sense of fulfillment in nurturing their growth and development. This passion deepened as I discovered a specific interest in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, recognizing the unique challenges they face and the importance of tailored assistance.
Moreover, my inherently process-oriented mindset led me down a path where I excelled in operations. I found satisfaction in optimizing systems and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in achieving goals. However, it wasn’t until I relocated to Georgia that I truly unearthed my purpose.
It was in Georgia where I encountered Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and its transformative impact on children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. Witnessing firsthand how ABA techniques could unlock potential, facilitate learning, and enhance quality of life resonated deeply with me. It was as if I had finally found my calling, where my passion for working with children, my affinity for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, and my knack for process-oriented work converged seamlessly.
In ABA, I found not just a career but a vocation—a path where I could channel my skills and dedication towards making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Every day in this field reaffirms my sense of purpose, driving me to continually learn, grow, and advocate for those who benefit from ABA interventions. It’s a privilege to be able to contribute to the well-being and empowerment of individuals and families, and I’m grateful to have found my purpose in doing so.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the co-founder of Limitless ABA, a venture born out of a deep-seated commitment to revolutionize the landscape of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. Recognizing the pervasive issue of subpar care within the ABA field, my colleague Francesca and I embarked on a mission to provide unparalleled quality and compassion to our clients and their families. Having witnessed firsthand the shortcomings of many ABA companies in Georgia—founded by individuals with deep pockets but lacking essential understanding and compassion—we were determined to challenge this status quo. At Limitless ABA, we are dedicated to not only delivering exceptional therapy but also to redefining the standard of care. Our innovative approach includes a rigorous 3-week, paid training program for therapists, designed to equip them with the skills and empathy necessary to excel in their roles. We prioritize staff retention through comprehensive support systems, ensuring our team is empowered to deliver their best every day. Moreover, we are in the process of developing a cutting-edge facility that prioritizes both clinical excellence and parent feedback, setting a new benchmark for ABA centers. Beyond our commitment to quality, we are actively rebuilding relationships with healthcare professionals to promote informed choices in selecting ABA providers. Until our facility officially opens, we are offering free resources, education, and support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their caregivers, underscoring our dedication to empowering families. At Limitless ABA, we are not just providing therapy; we are leading a movement to restore faith in the ABA field and ensure every individual receives the exceptional care they deserve.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities that have been most impactful are resilience, empathy, and continuous learning. Resilience enabled me to navigate challenges and setbacks, staying focused on my goals despite obstacles. Empathy allowed me to connect deeply with individuals and understand their needs, fostering meaningful relationships and driving my commitment to providing quality care. Continuous learning kept me adaptable and innovative, ensuring I stayed current in my field and remained open to new perspectives and approaches.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate resilience by embracing failures as opportunities for growth, seeking support from mentors and peers, and maintaining a positive mindset even in difficult times. Practice empathy by actively listening to others, seeking to understand their experiences, and putting yourself in their shoes to better serve them. Finally, prioritize continuous learning by staying curious, seeking out new knowledge and experiences, and being open to feedback and constructive criticism. By developing these qualities, individuals can navigate their journey with confidence, compassion, and a commitment to ongoing growth and improvement.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
The most helpful individuals in my journey have been my mentors, colleagues, and supportive network of friends and family. My mentors provided invaluable guidance, sharing their wisdom and experience to help me navigate challenges and make informed decisions. Colleagues offered diverse perspectives and collaborative opportunities, fostering a culture of learning and growth. Meanwhile, my supportive network of friends and family provided unwavering encouragement and belief in my abilities, cheering me on through triumphs and setbacks alike. Together, these individuals have been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and develop the essential skills, qualities, and knowledge needed for success. Their support, guidance, and encouragement have been indispensable in shaping my journey and enabling me to reach my goals.
