We were lucky to catch up with Chelsea Silva recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chelsea, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding my purpose didn’t happen overnight. Oh so Chelsea started as a creative outlet—a way to make something I enjoyed for myself. I loved creating headbands that were unique, comfortable, and reflected my style. It was something small that made my day better, and I wanted to share that with others.
The turning point came when friends started asking for headbands. They loved the designs and how versatile they were. That’s when I realized I could turn my hobby into something bigger. I started making more, experimenting with patterns and styles, and eventually, I launched oh so Chelsea.
Running a small business has been a learning experience. Balancing this with grad school and a full-time job hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. Every sale, every happy customer reminds me why I started—because I wanted to create something that makes people feel good and look great, without a lot of effort.
Now, oh so Chelsea is more than just headbands. It’s about sharing something handmade, with care and attention to detail, that brings a little extra joy to someone’s day. Finding my purpose was about realizing that even small things, like a headband, can make a big difference.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Chelsea Silva, a financial analyst by day and the creative mind behind oh so Chelsea, where I design fun and functional headbands and accessories. My journey started with a passion for crafting unique headbands that allow people to express themselves, and has grown into a full-fledged business where creativity and functionality meet.
What’s most exciting to me about my work is how I combine my analytical skills with my creative side. As a financial analyst, I bring a data-driven approach to my business decisions, which helps me stay on track and grow strategically. At the same time, my creative side fuels my passion for designing products that are both stylish and practical. I’m currently working towards my master’s degree in accounting, which has allowed me to enhance my financial knowledge and apply it to my business in a more meaningful way.
On a personal note, my dogs are a huge part of my life and inspiration. I’ve started working on a dog bandana collection with Pepper as my model, and it’s been so rewarding to combine my love for animals with my business.
At oh so Chelsea, we’re constantly evolving. I’ve recently begun offering curated products from other women-owned businesses, like handmade journals and accessories, adding a unique touch to my collection while supporting other entrepreneurs. As I continue to grow, I look forward to expanding my product lineup and finding new ways to share my passion with others.
Whether you’re looking for a headband that reflects your personality or just a little extra flair for your outfit, oh so Chelsea is here to help. I’m excited for what’s ahead as I continue this journey of blending creativity, business, and passion.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey, I would say that the three most impactful qualities or skills have been:
Adaptability: Starting a business means facing unexpected challenges, and being adaptable has helped me navigate them. Whether it’s shifting strategies, tweaking designs, or adjusting my approach to customer needs, being open to change has allowed me to keep moving forward.
Advice: For those just starting out, don’t be afraid to pivot when necessary. Things don’t always go as planned, and being flexible will help you stay resilient. Learn from mistakes and embrace opportunities for growth.
Creativity: My passion for design and creating unique products has been at the heart of oh so Chelsea. Whether it’s coming up with new headband designs or thinking of ways to market my products, my creativity has been a driving force behind my business.
Advice: Nurture your creativity by trying new things and stepping outside of your comfort zone. Inspiration can come from anywhere, and being open to new ideas can help you find your unique voice. Take time to develop your craft and keep experimenting.
Financial Management: As a financial analyst, I’ve had the benefit of strong financial knowledge, which has been crucial in managing the business side of things. Understanding budgeting, expenses, and revenue has allowed me to grow my business sustainably.
Advice: Even if you’re not in finance, it’s important to learn the basics of managing your finances. Keeping track of your expenses, setting realistic budgets, and understanding your cash flow are essential for long-term success. Don’t be afraid to seek out resources or even take courses to improve your financial literacy.
For those who are early in their journey, my biggest piece of advice is to be patient and stay consistent. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and the more you put into developing these qualities, the better prepared you’ll be to tackle the ups and downs of your business journey

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was instill a strong work ethic from an early age. They taught me the value of dedication, perseverance, and the importance of putting in the effort to achieve my goals. Growing up, I saw them work hard and remain committed to their responsibilities, which inspired me to take pride in my work and to always strive for excellence.
This mindset has shaped both my professional life and my business. Whether it’s tackling complex financial tasks or putting in the time and effort to create a new product for oh so Chelsea, I carry that same determination. Their example showed me that success doesn’t come easily, but with consistent effort and a positive attitude, you can make things happen.
For anyone starting their journey, my advice would be to embrace hard work and stay focused, even when things get tough. It’s that dedication that often makes the biggest difference in the long run.
