Meet Cheri

We were lucky to catch up with Cheri recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Cheri, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

Imposter Syndrome is so real. When I first started social media I wanted to be like every pretty influencer that came across my feed. It took awhile to come out of it. However, during one of my niece’s pageants, she mentioned that she would watch me dance & minister in church and loved how confident I was and how much it encouraged her to do pageants. She said that she wanted to be as confident as I was when I danced. That reminded me of how much I loved being me. I was never a follower, however, somehow once I started doing social media, I found myself sucked into the “Be-Like” motion. I chose to continue the “Be-Like” motion… be like myself, be better than who I was the day before. Now, I’m trying to teach others to do the same. Our audience are waiting and seeking us. Waiting for us to show up as Us so they can pour love into Us while we teach and encourage them to be better each and everyday.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a proud native of the US Virgin Islands. When I say native, I mean a descendant of the first settlers known as the Taino Indian Tribe. I’ve always wanted to have a family business, just never knew what it would. Last year, after having so much success as a UGC Creator, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and allowed God to direct me… order my steps. Since August of 2024, I began working on starting my very own social media agency with a focus on UGC Creators, Influencers and brands. It’s not the usual creative agency, there’s a specialty, which I’ll keep to myself until we launch. We’re launching in May 2025 and I’m super excited. Having done UGC myself, I realized there were some gaps and how alone it can be and frustrating mastering UGC without the help. So, with my agency, I’m going to provide the help.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The 3 qualities: Learn before you get started. Decide where within the Digital Marketing arena you want to leave your trademark. Once you have that, learn everything. There are a lot of “experts” out here selling snake oil. Learn who is providing truth & knowledge and who are just noise and unnecessary distraction. Don’t try to be on every platform or go for every quick money scheme. What those experts won’t and don’t tell you, is the truth about what it was like for them when they started and all that they had to go through before they really started making a dent in the social media arena. Lastly, take your time. Know what you want to be known for and what it takes to be that. Social Media is ever evolving, don’t rush, you’re not behind. You’re just where you’re supposed to be. Your “IT” moment is right there, patiently waiting for you. So, take your time.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am currently look for brands to partner with right now. I would love to partner with Aritzia, Alo, and Fenty Skin. I absolutely love Aritzia because their style is in alignment with we’re I’m at right now in this chapter of my life. They are jus so timeless. And Fenty Skin… I’ve been using these skincare products since they first launched in 2020 and have not used any other skincare products. If either Aritzia, Alo, or Fenty Skin wants to connect with me they can reach me at hello@socielmuse.com.
