Meet Cherry Griffin

We recently connected with Cherry Griffin and have shared our conversation below.

Cherry, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
This question is a tough one. I say that because when you feel you are on the right path that leads you to happiness, nothing you do or accomplish is fulfilling you emotionally, mentally, and financially. So, you are often out here wondering what exactly am I doing. Finding my purpose really wasn’t the challenge. It was preparing to walk into my purpose and be willing to accept the challenges, conquer them, and commit to doing the thing that would make me whole.

I had to tackle the biggest challenge, and that was me. I had to learn to get out of my own way; asking for help is not a sign of weakness. I had to move at a pace that was realistic for me. I set realistic goals and did not concern myself with what others were doing. I understood that quality is the focus, not quantity.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
What do I do? I am currently a 5th-grade ELA teacher, working on a book about finding your purpose when it seems you’ve lost your way. See, I had a shift late in life, and I know there are many people out there like me who find themselves reinventing who they are.

Why is this important for you to know about me? It is important because, whoever this is for, “life starts and ends with you. Love is how you define it and allow it in your life, and success is determined by your standards, not societies.”

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I would have to say being resilient saved me. I bounced back after disappointments and failures and did not allow them to dictate my life. I learned from them and moved on. Another quality is being humble. I am not afraid to admit when I am wrong and apologize. The last thing is being open to learning. Whenever you stop learning, you stop growing.

My advice to anyone reading this is never to let fear keep you from reaching your full potential. Fear should be your motivator. I learned from someone else what fear stands for: Find Every Available Resource for you to accomplish your goals.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I want to collaborate with others who are looking to give back to their communities by educating, empowering, and inspiring others to take charge of their lives and make a difference. I want to focus on our Title I schools and low-income areas and offer solutions that can change the trajectory of their lives.
