Meet Cherry Perez

We were lucky to catch up with Cherry Perez recently and have shared our conversation below.

Cherry, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I gained my resilience by realizing that nobody is coming to save you but yourself. I’ve overcome a lot of adversity in my life including homelessness, drug addiction, legal battles, and abusive relationships. Through all of those battles, I was the one who had to show up and fight for myself – nobody else is going to do it for you. It’s up to you and you alone to put in the work. At this point, I have come too far to ever stop fighting for my life. I love the life I’ve built way too much to ever give up on myself, or anyone else for that matter, ever again. Once you climb out of the trenches, you realize you can do it again if you have to. That is incredibly empowering – to know that you can rely on yourself no matter what. This is how resilience is made.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

While writing and producing music was my passion in the past, my current focus is creating content online. I cover political and cultural topics, often offering a contrary position to the mass consensus. My perspective that I share in my YouTube and TikTok videos comes from my unique experiences mentioned in the previous question. I’ve lived a very unique life and have gotten to see and experience a lot, all of which has really shaped my worldview. In my 20’s, I traveled all over the world throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and a little bit of South America. On the contrary, I’ve also lived on the streets and frequented jail cells. Because of this, I tend to see a lot of political and cultural conversations very differently than most.
I actually became a conservative BECAUSE of what I saw living as an addict and navigating the legal system. My degenerate lifestyle stole everything from me and liberal policies and ideologies encouraged me to keep living that way. Upon getting sober and rehabilitating my life, this understanding amongst many other factors made me question a lot of what is going on in society, prompting me to understand the value of personal responsibility.

I have a new YouTube video dropping this week about the Epstein files, and will be on SimpCast with Chrissie Mayer this Sunday (7/10) at 8p CST. Plus, you can always find me posting away on X. I practically live on there.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1) A belief in yourself: If you truly believe in yourself, there is nothing that you cannot accomplish. Understand that nobody is going to believe in you like you will. Nobody is going to advocate for you like you will. Nobody is going to save you but yourself. You must understand that you are here on this Earth for a reason, and it is your duty to create value for the world. If you are unsure of your purpose, there are many pathways to figure it out. From there, you just have to believe in yourself. Prove to yourself that you can do anything you set your mind to and other people will start to believe it too.

2) Understanding Power: Once you understand the rules and dynamics of power, the world changes right before your eyes. It is absolutely crucial that you do though, because otherwise you will get chewed up and spit out if you remain ignorant to this. I suggest reading The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene to start. Once you learn these laws, you can’t unsee them play out in the real world. But, the good part is that you can learn learn to the play game too. Give yourself this advantage.

3) Asking for help IS being self-sufficient: A lot of people have a firm belief that they need to be self sufficient in life to be successful. While that is a very honorable way to look at things, it’s not always feasible. Understanding when and who to ask for help IS being self sufficient. Understanding that you cannot do everything yourself and that you will fail if you try to do things that way is being self sufficient! The truth is we all need help sometimes. And the only way you will ever accomplish whatever it is that you are trying to do, is by understanding when and who to ask for help.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I think it’s really important to be good at a lot of things within certain parameters. For example, if you are really good at music, get good at EVERYTHING within the music industry. Get good at social media, get good at writing, get good at mixing and producing, get good at playing multiple instruments, get good at performing. But, don’t also then try to be good at plumbing and electrical work too. You will spread yourself thin for no real reward or advantage. It’s good to be a jack of all trades, but just within one trade area 🙂
