Meet Cheryl Stauffer Stauffer

We recently connected with Cheryl Stauffer Stauffer and have shared our conversation below.

Cheryl Stauffer, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My strong work ethic was shaped by my upbringing in Paraguay, South America, where my hardworking Mennonite parents dedicated themselves to providing the best for their children. Always wanting to create more opportunities at a life well lived then what they had growing up.

My father, an entrepreneur who established a family business, and my mother, who consistently pursued new ventures after our return to the United States. They both instilled in me a relentless drive and problem-solving approach.

The strong work ethic ingrained in Mennonite culture played a key role in strengthening my entrepreneurial spirit.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Crimson Design Group operates as a full-service design firm, bringing its creative vision and expertise to both the intimate spaces of high-end residences and to the hospitality industry.

Our portfolio extends large multi-family developments, senior living communities, and to restaurant and bar projects.

We specialize in creating bold interiors that express a life well lived by our clients.

Inspired by Cheryl’s South American heritage and extensive global travels, Crimson’s signature style embraces bold color, pattern, and a fusion of global influences.

This philosophy drives the company to consistently offer out-of-the-box and transformative design ideas. For Crimson Design Group, the essence lies in experiencing the beauty of design, witnessing ideas materialize, and executing the complete process of impactful transformation.

We are expanding into more national work focusing on Arizona and the Midwest. We are building our sales team to go after hotel projects as well as national developers in the multi-family sector.

A fun project we are working on now is a private airplane hangar for a client.
Some of our favorite projects are Trevor’s project in Scottsdale. https://www.trevors.com/arcadia

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities I have learned are:
1. Believe in yourself- because at the end of the day no one will believe in you as much as you yourself. You have to learn to quiet the noise in your head (or I call her the bitch between the ears).

2. The secret, I think, lies in living with intention, in truly believing you can shape the world around you. I’ve seen it happen. Back in 2017, armed with that conviction, I wrote a detailed vision of the next five years. It wasn’t just wishful thinking; it was a blueprint. I even envisioned the details of a new building, the heart of which would be a long table where my team could connect over shared lunches, a chef on our team cooking meals for us. It felt ambitious, almost audacious. But three years later, that precise picture had become our everyday reality. Now, as Crimson’s story unfolds, I find myself constantly revisiting and rewriting that vision, compelled to dream even bigger. Because the truth I’ve learned is that the only limits are the ones we place on our own belief.

3. Almost 5 years ago we started implementing EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) in our business. That has been a game changer for us. It has created structure and real direction for our company. Committing an entire day every quarter with my leadership team setting quarterly goals to meet they yearly ones has been transformational. It creates alignment with everyone in the company. I give a quarterly state of the company to my team and share our goals and where we are going. This has given me so much freedom knowing that my leadership team is in this with me and I am not on an island along pushing us forward. We are doing it together.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

I had to push myself out of my comfort zone the last year and become comfortable in the uncomfortable.

Learning to be honest with myself and realize that at times I was the biggest obstacle to our growth and future. I had to make hard decisions that affected people around me however I knew that it was the right thing to do. We have completely rebuilt our leadership team. I knew I needed people who think much bigger, who have high capacity, and lead with emotional intelligence.
Creating that new team has been invigorating and exciting. I know that it will help us accomplish whats next for the future of Crimson.
