Meet Cheyenne Dowdle

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cheyenne Dowdle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cheyenne below.

Cheyenne , so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I keep my creativity alive by continuing to practice and singing my heart out via recordings shared online and performing live on stage. Furthermore, I listen to other artists for inspiration in finding songs that fit my voice and songs that I strongly connect with.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I guess you can say I am like the next Hannah Montana. Teacher by day, singer by night. However, I can definitely say I live the best of both worlds. From the moment I wake up until bed I am a nonstop record player going through one tune to another like I am performing at MSG. Singing allows myself to be my true authentic self. I was the girl with the big powerful voice, headband, and glasses. Not the typical, Hollywood image, but I wanted to show people that being your true authentic self as a singer is going to emanate the passion you have for it and allow you to connect with people to have them forget their worries and to have fun!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were being confident, determined, and receptive/open minded. It is important to be confident in what you want to pursue. Being confident is the first stepping stone to accomplish what you want to do first. Being determined in how you are going to accomplish it and making sure you follow through on it is the second stepping stone. However, while going through your journey it is important to be receptive/open minded. We are constantly learning and growing as human beings. If we wish to accomplish our goal we have to be open to asking for feedback. Asking for feedback is not a weakness. It is a source of strength.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was believing and supporting in my dream to sing. They have shown up and still show up to all of my performances, paid for my vocal lessons later on in life to fine tune a few singing skills, and provide feedback on my performances/recordings so I know if a song fits my voice, parts of the song to work on, etc. I would not be where I am without them!
