Meet Chidike John Nwankwo

We were lucky to catch up with Chidike John Nwankwo recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Chidike, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

My confidence and self esteem dates all the way back to middle school. I never realized that I’ve been ahead of the game since I was a little kid. I started playing instruments at 5 years old. There was a piano that I used to fiddle around with in my middle school lunch room, and a crowd formed every time I played. Plenty of compliments came through, and people wanted to learn from me. This is when I knew I had potential. Adults I have met are always surprised at the skill I’ve gained being such a young man. Looking back at all the things I have done, I am really an all-in-one machine. It takes a lot of self love to acknowledge myself like this because people have belittled me because of my age. I am only 17 1/2 years old! The easiest mindset that has allowed me to suppress my haters is the fact that none of them have accomplished even 20% of what is in my resume.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I currently run my business ChikayMusic Enterprises. We specialize in Creative Direction, Film, Music, Photo & Events. What makes this business so special is the high quality produced from a company owned by a young CEO. Our work competes with seasoned professionals. As of right now, our prices are very affordable. You won’t regret supporting us!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three things that have made me successful is never settling for less if my name is on a project. Secondly is the concept of integrity. Lastly is staying true to myself. I will dive deeper into these topics. Whenever I am called to help lead a project, I stay on top of the team to make sure it finished at an A grade level. I believe this is a good mindset to have when you are pursuing a career in anything, even if you are being led by someone else, always do your best because you never know the first impression you will have on someone. Next I speak on integrity, for a lot of people this stings them because they can easily switch on people if they think it will better their career. In reality all this does is create a bad track record for yourself. Being the best at your craft doesn’t get majority of us far, it’s about having good people skills that really gets anyone far. Imagine being next to a jerk all the time while doing the thing you most love to do. My last concept is the most important, and most famous people you admire exist because of this! What you want to do is stick to your unique personality, and be different from the rest. It gives people a reason to become a fan of you because they get a whole new experience that they can’t get from anyone else! You should strive to take inspiration from people instead of trying to become an exact replica. Think of the Steve Jobs and the iPhone. He made a very hard push on a full touchscreen instead of a built in keyboard like most flip phones at the time did. After the phone gained success, competition started taking inspiration.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am looking to collaborate with musical artists who want to take their showmanship to the next level. My company can revamp your live set to look, and sound like a Coachella headline! Feel free to take email me at [email protected] or DM my company @chikaymusicent on Instagram!
