Meet Chimankpam Arungwa

We were lucky to catch up with Chimankpam Arungwa recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Chimankpam with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic without a question comes from my mother. She was one of the hardest working women I was fortunate enough to know. The older I get and looking back at how she was able to manage being a full-time nurse at two different locations, active member in the church, and mother to not only her own three children, but a mother to her late brothers children without ever complaining is still beyond me. She is who I’ve always aspired to be growing up and only hope that I’m making her proud now.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a guy with a variety of interests honestly, but what has been a passion turned full time career has been the art of curating experiences. I’ve been producing events since my junior year in highschool, but decided to take this passion a step further and turn it into my full time career as an events producer here in New York. The world of events really is filled with so many exciting aspects, from the ideation of what events can look like to the emotions you want your guests, clients, and friends to take away. What’s special about it really is being in the moment where the event started as an idea to now witnessing individuals interacting with it. Through my events agency Enjoyment Series NYC, I focus strongly on community driven events, brand activations as well as product launches, which also are the services I offer for those looking to take their idea and turn them into full experiential moments.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three skills that have been most impactful for me on this journey have been my interpersonal & communication skill, my creativity and vision when sculpting new experiences and definitely my organizational & problem-solving abilities. Producing events can be exciting, chaotic, busy but fulfilling, the one advice I have on that would be to take everything as they come, stay genuine to who you are, events aren’t just about the budgets or sponsors backing them but just as much about the brands or individuals who are behind them.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

That decade would be spent giving back in Africa. I always envision traveling throughout africa and immersing myself in the various cultures and lifestyles that there are out there. With a decade left would be serving communities and helping establish more infrastructure around family planning and education. This life of mine has blessed me with so much that I’ll always be grateful for, so the only other side of how I finish it is just this, giving those blessings right back.
