We were lucky to catch up with Chloe Dotson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chloe, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose through the difficult moments of being a military spouse. The lifestyle is not meant for the weak. The days can feel draining, lonely, and long. I love my husband with everything inside of me, but I chose to give up my old life to start this amazing new journey with him. I would not change my decision to stand by his side nor do I regret choosing the military lifestyle. But, it took what felt like a long time for me to realize that I was not doing anything for myself. I was living everyday through him and our beautiful marriage, and when I really reflected on myself I realized I did not do things for ME. This realization is what really sparked the idea of “The Adorned Jewelry Co.” My purpose became the drive to invest in myself the way that I do others. I am beyond grateful for my husband who has supported this journey from day one because he saw how happy the thought of this made me, yet alone how happy I would be after we made this chapter come to life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hello, my name is Chloe and I am the owner of “The Adorned Jewelry Co.” which is a permanent jewelry company located in Clarksville, Tennessee. I started this business in June of 2024 with the amazing support of my husband.
For those that are unfamiliar with permanent jewelry it is a piece of jewelry that is custom cut and skillfully welded together instead of being secured with a clasp or hook. It is meant to be worn continuously as a bracelet, anklet, necklace, or other custom designs.
I am very excited for this new journey in my life. I chose to start this chapter because I craved the idea of investing in myself. I am a military spouse, and anyone who lives this life knows how lonely it can feel, which sparked the idea of “The Adorned Jewelry Co.” to give me something to be proud of and to consume my time when I was alone.
My main goal is to build a strong reputation for myself as I strive to satisfy my clients. I am focused on building a large selection of products to appeal to everyone in my target audience. My future goal is to be more involved in our community farmers market and to book my first group event such as a bridal shower, girls night, birthday party, and more!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I reflect on this journey it is crucial for me to use my craftsmanship, marketing skills, and sense of customer relationships in order to be successful. High-quality craftsmanship is very important. The ability to create visually appealing and durable pieces is central to attracting and retaining customers. Running a successful business requires more than just creating jewelry. Understanding how to manage finances, market your products effectively, and build a brand is essential. Building strong relationships with customers helps in gaining loyalty. Providing exceptional customer service and personalized experiences can set you apart.
My advice to anyone who wants to start a small business would be to develop strong communication skills and learn how to engage with customers effectively. Ensure to provide consistent, high-quality service to build trust and satisfaction. Educate yourself on business management and marketing strategies. Utilize all of your resources.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am seeking collaboration for my permanent jewelry business. It is valuable to consider partners who align with my brand and goals. I am searching for artists and designers with a unique artistic vision or design skills that can bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to my jewelry collection. Collaborations with boutiques can provide new sales channels and increase both of our customer bases as well as coffee shops, restaurants, salons and more! If anyone is interested in collaborating with our target audiences, I would love to connect! You can message me on my Facebook page or you can email me at theadornedjewelryco@gmail.com.
