Meet Chloe Renee Gillott

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chloe Renee Gillott. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Chloe Renee , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism comes from everyday saying to myself “Everything is going to work out” and “You can do anything you put your mind to.” I would say for the most part I am a pretty optimistic person. I always try to look at life as if the “glass is half full.” Growing up if there was something I wanted to do, even if it felt like it was impossible I would try my hardest to find a way to do it. An example was I really wanted to join my school cheerleading squad. My supportive parents asked me if that was a good idea. Just because I had to try out and I had never had any experience at all. Thankfully I was very headstrong and said “I can do anything I put my mind to.” I practiced a lot and I made the team. Also, growing up dealing with handling my learning disability, I felt a lot of times people would always put me down. Most of the time I would always be told, “Oh, you can’t do that because you have a disability” or “You can’t take that class because you can’t handle it.” I am so thankful that I didn’t listen to what those people said because I wouldn’t be where I am if I listened to those voices. Don’t let anyone dim your light!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am Chloe Renee Gillott. I am an actress, singer, songwriter, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. I am a graduate from AMDA College of the Performing Arts, where I received my BFA in Musical Theatre-Performing Arts. I have been performing from a young age. I am the voice of the cartoon character, Ly, for the e-learning website: LearnWonderly.com. During the COVID- 19 pandemic, I co-wrote with my sister, Melanie Gillott, the children’s book: “What’s a Quarantine?” to help children have a better understanding of what was happening and provide a sense of hope during a dark and uncertain time. In recent months, I have been spending time in the theatre. I finished up an amazing run of the musical “Parade,” with DerynDale Productions at the Electric Lodge Theatre. In “Parade,” I had the pleasure of being a factory girl swing, understudy of Mary Phagan, and part of the ensemble. Currently, I am in Annie, at Fremont Centre Theatre, where I will get to be Star to Be, Connie (Boylen Sister), Cecille, and Ensemble. When I am not auditioning or on stage, I love to be in class. In May, I received my certification on two hand swords (broadsword) with the SAFD (Society of American Fight Directors). Currently, I have my certification with recommendation with the SAFD in Sword & Shield, Rapier & Dagger, and Knife. Something that I am most proud of is my first pop single titled, “Be Anything.” My musical journey has led me to write this song which is available on all musical platforms. I wrote this song as a beacon of hope to anyone going through a challenging situation and a way to encourage others to go for their dreams. I also created a music video for it. It is currently on my YouTube channel @Chloe Renee Gillott. I also just released a Christmas song with my sister, Melanie Gillott. The song is called “Just One Wish.” Getting to create a song with my sister has been a dream come true, and it is so surreal to be crossing off that goal of ours. “Just One Wish” is currently on all streaming platforms. My plans for the future are to keep doing what I love to do. Right now, I am just trying to take it one day at a time – one audition after another. I am looking forward to what next year will unfold, whether that is releasing some new music, being in another musical, or spending time on set. I am just looking forward to continuing on this amazing journey that I am on.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that were/still are impactful in my journey are: Kindness, Patience, and Resilience. I would say these three qualities are something that has helped me on my journey and still are. Being kind doesn’t cost anything. I think that treating others how you want to be treated is very important. Patience and being resilient are qualities that work together and without them I would not be where I am today. I have heard many people say that as actors it may take hearing hundreds of people say “no” until finally hearing that one “yes.” Staying strong and moving forward one step at a time continues to bring new joyful experiences into my path.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I would say having a great supportive group has been most helpful. My family has been such a great support system. I am truly thankful and blessed to have them in my life. I would also say all the people who I have met along the way on my journey have also taught me so many things and helped me. My cast members from “Parade” have been some of the people who I didn’t know I needed in my life. I always say things happen for a reason and they’re definitely a group that I needed in my life. They have taught me so many things about theatre, audition tricks, and how to just trust the process.
